Will this be the longest time teams have ever had to prepare and practice for a playoff (play-in, whatever) opponent?

Even during the end of the regular season, if the seeding is basically set and you know who your playoff opponent will be, you still need to prepare and practice for the teams remaining on the regular season schedule.

Now teams a going into basically a two week training camp knowing their playoff opponent.

Interesting.

Pens are the Dogs in this series, and not by a small amount.

The Habs are favored in this series in that because the Habs are a terrific team analytically and those models overrate the value of analytics. That's the flaw with those kind of models, comparing teams analytically only makes sense if they're comparably talented. The Habs are just clearly inferior to the Penguins when it comes to talent, hence why one team was on pace for over 100 points and the other was a .500 team.

Crosby missed two of the three games played against the Habs this year. I think that Jake missed a couple, maybe all three.

If ever there was a time to ignore recent form analytics, surely this is the time?

What exactly is the baseline for these people to make accurate predictions and favorites?

5 month gap in teams having any ice time together as a unit?

Every single team is going into this travesty nhl tournament with 50/50 odds.

To predict or argue anything else is just click bait crap trying to set talking points and build animosity, excitement, etc etc.

Hi folks, Bruin fan coming in peace..I just wanna let you guys know that EVERY Bruin fan I spoke too is cheering hard for the Pens to beat the Habbies first round or elimination round or whatever the heck they call it..
Personally I think it's an absolute injustice that the 24th seed who had a 1 in 2000 chance of making postseason even has a remote chance. Montreal was 10 points out of a PO position with 11 games remaining, it makes no sense to me at all..

I think this would have made more sense. Top 6 teams automatically in top 16.. teams ranked 7-8-9-10 play a Round Robin to see who claims the Wildcard spots.

Now I realize that the problem would be inactivity for Top 6. BUT they could also have a round robin or do something of game importance so they would also be fresh when it all begins.

But considering the way it is now, Pittburgh finished 15 F$%%ing points ahead of the habbies. And with this long layoff, it's the same as hockey season beginning in Oct..Anything can happen in a 3 game series if thats what it is.

I just hope the good guys win and every team thats SUPPOSED to be in postseason ends up there. GO PENGUINS, I have full confidence that you guys will beat the Habbies..All they have going for them is Carey Price and look at his stats the past 2-3 seasons. He's merely a shadow of himself..Jarry or Murray will outduel him I have no doubt..

All the very best Pen fans and to you and your families, please stay safe and take good care of each other..

I miss the Montreal - Boston playoff series we got to watch in the 2000's

For awhile there it was Montreal vs Boston every single year and they were some heavy heavy heavy teams pounding on each other playing some hockey in between.

Man, those were some grueling match-ups and some damn fun hockey to watch.

Those two teams beat the living hell out of each other in the post season. Just as, if not more enjoyable than the Penguins - Flyers 2000's playoff match-ups. Nah... nothing beats the old Pens - Flyers... nothing.

I'm not a betting man, but I'd bet on the Pens to beat the Habs if the Habs are "favored". Easy money.

Thank you.

But we hope the Bruins get creamed in the 1st round and hate your team. I would argue the Bruins are the # 1 rival of this Pens squad.

Grapes likes the Habs over the Pens as well because of one man....Carey Price.

It would be an absolute embarrassment to lose to the Habs in this “play in” bullshit, but hey, they is the Pens we’re talking about here...

I genuinely have no clue why people who just bitch and moan about the Penguins and make no indication that they like the Penguins post here regularly.
