Who woulda thunk that we'd be better off with Petry+Rutta than we are with EK + being forced to start the season with a couple of complete chumps (POJ, Ruh) on the 3rd pair? But here we are.

We are definitely better off with EK.

EK + Petts is one of the best D-pairs in the league and he is driving the play. A huge component in Sid's huge season.

That said, yes sinking more assets and picks into a crumbling team looks delusional. If the pick is like 8th-10th I hope we give it to SJS. The 2025 pick could be #2 or #1. We can't let that pick go unprotected.

Crosby's getting old
Letang slow
And when it's cold and when it snows
The Pens will blow the lead a bunch
And worse so their PP sucks

They kick our arse
Cause Sully's dumb
They kick our arse
And leave us numb
Up by 2 or even 3?
The Pens will blow it
I guarantee

Karlsson; "We didn’t find a way to stick with it. We got a little bit frustrated, I think... we shouldn’t really feel any other feelings than we did going into the 3rd, which was feeling pretty good about ourselves. So, it deflated us a bit. It’s on us not to let that happen."

The team is in big trouble. They aren't a good forechecking team, average at best defensively and their inability to score at even strength is a burden night in night out….fire the coach

they really believe it’s just a couple bad bounces lol

same story like last year, even after they lost to Chicago they were oh just afew bad bounces...more than anything this needs some kind of cultural shock...if they have any chance to get to playoffs and it has to happen now...the easy way is to give up now and start dismantling this shitshow

Only problem is that we never NEEDED to dump any of those aside from Granlund. All the idiots who spent a good chunk of last season shrieking hysterically that OMG PETTREEE SUXXX are just that -- idiots. Who woulda thunk that we'd be better off with Petry+Rutta than we are with EK + being forced to start the season with a couple of complete chumps (POJ, Ruh) on the 3rd pair? But here we are.

EK isn't terrible, just nowhere near worth his cost and never was NECESSARY for this team. Except insofar that Dubas wanted to make a big splashy move to get credit for, and doing so with FSG's blessing because EK could supposedly help fill some of those empty seats at PPG and sell some "merch" for the Pens.
I disagree, Petts+EK is one of the best pair in hockey lol I’m making that trade all day.

The only issue is that Graves came before Karlsson. I’m convinced that Graves isn’t getting a deal here if we had Karlsson.

Graves-Letang will never work imo and the 3rd pair is just fine without Ruh.

Look Pens just have to change the mix and compete with so,e guys who will pay the price. O watch DOC and he is just a guy. Yet sully singles him out to build his confidence by telling him his game is good playing up. It isn't. He is just an example of players who just don't have enough game to win. Niero was a sully kind of guy. But he is simply not good enough on a team that is in need of size and bang. I was hopeing Nylandr could show he was dent on d and maybe score a goal or 2. He isn't good enough. Poulin is hurt but man just no one to bring up here.

I think it's clear they need to make adjustments, because the rest of the NHL can now play that way, too. I don't understand why they continue to be so aggressive on the forecheck, which leads to them being loose in the neutral zone and allows teams to break the press and gain possession.

The adjustment is firing Mike two years ago.

UMMMMMM NO

Every team in the league fires their coach when the team goes on a major downward spiral. We have kept Sullivan around much longer than frankly any other franchise would who wasn't trying to rebuild.

Sullivan used to have a really positive affect on the team but that seemed to have been lost going back to 2018 and has only been getting worse since.

Theyll see the first 40 mins and think THATS Penguins hockey and not make any changes. Its the same thing over and over. They dont see the real underlying issues

What are you talking about. The two wingers he plays with cannot create or setup. Malkin sets them up and they are not converting.
He's still gotta find a way to get on the scoresheet.

He is apart of the worst PP in the NHL, when he's supposed to be a specialist at the Powerplay.
