Like I said at this point I don't really care much about L2. They are gonna just largely kinda be there, at best. But L1 is pretty clearly better with Raks next to Sid and Jake. And it's gonna be up to L1 to win this team games since last I checked you still gotta score goals to win.

It's certainly not like the powerplay is gonna do anything aside from absolutely needless drop passes through the NZ even if there is an open lane to skate. I halfway suspect those guys are in "malicious compliance" territory with that shit.

Pens are gonna cruise to a win scoring like 7 goals. Jake-Sid-Rust is gonna have like 10pts. We'll get Jake-Sid-Rust until Rust gets injured around Christmas. Then we'll get Jake-Sid-Rakell again, and Geno will have, like, Heinen-Kap as his wings because Zucker will definitely be injured. Can't wait.

Nah more like Jake-Sid-Rust are kinda poopy/
Geno and Rakell develop awesome chemistry. Then Rust goes down and Geno gets archibald and Caggiula.

Are you genuinely this dense that this is what you got out of my post?

My post was entirely about getting Letang to play smarter and more conservatively. Thinking playing POJ with Letang may make Letang play a safer and more structured game doesn't mean I suddenly think POJ is a top pair defenseman.

Letang has been worse than Dumoulin. Dumoulin has had to clean up Letang's messes all season so far.
Perhaps, but I think there's no harm in breaking up the pairing anyways and seeing if either recover

Are you inspired by POJ or Smith in a top pairing role?

It might not be a long term solution, but Rutta would be the best option currently in the organization to replace Dumo.
No, of course not. But if we're jettisoning a #1 D prior to TDL, expiring contract and all, regardless of how he's playing, it is certainly an indication of restrained expectations for the 2022/23 at the very best. We don't have the capital to trade for a similarly slotted player assuming one would be available, unless we're crazy enough to part with our 2023/1st. So, if we're giving up on the season, let's turn Smith loose and see what happens- a month or two riding buses in WBS likely inspired him to make the most of it. In any case, it is difficult to imagine this team doing much of anything until Letang starts producing, but I suppose that could be said about other players too, maybe just not ones quite so obvious.

Thats the bs answer…real answer: “Sid prefers to play with Rust”…
we make our decisions based on what makes us hard to play against and gives us the best chance to win
I think Sully got caught by surprise that anyone would dare to ask him that kind of question, so he first reacted harshly than he started his spinorama....that was fun to watch

It's gonna be real hilarious when the starting lineup goes on strike and the FO sends in the Pinkertons and scabs.

Yeah let’s just have head coach Mike Sullivan telegraph all of our strategic decisions and behind the scenes discussions. “Hey Sully did you email Torts our game-plan yet?”:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Lol what strategic decisions. Everyone here knows that sullivan will do. You can be sure the whole league does as well.

Meh, I honestly don't give a crap how they do the top six. I'd rather Rakell with Sid, but I don't think it matters that much. Any of those line combinations can work.

I'm much more concerned about Letang/Dumoulin and how badly they've both played. I think the top six will figure it out regardless of how they organize it. I am much less confident of our top pairing figuring it out right now.

Do you think it is a coincidence that we have the same amount of wins and losses to start the season? Future opponents might have a tough time figuring out what Penguins team shows up. Ever heard of nuance?

I think Zucker's $5.5 million is pretty f***ed too, tbh. He's a fine player but when the dude is on the shelf for like 50% of the season with regularity, it doesn't really matter how solid he is. He'd need to be exceptional in his time healthy, and he sure ain't that.

So you've got Zucker's $5.5 million. Dumo's $4.1 million. McGinn's $2.75 million. Arguably Kap's $3.2 million, though that's pretty whatever for an average 3rd liner. That's a shade over $15.5 million tied up in guys who aren't cutting it in one way or another. Add in Blueger's $2.2 million to do what Poehling's been perfectly fine at for 1/3 the price. /shrug
If it were up to me, Dumo, McGinn and potentially Blue would be gone tomorrow.

Finally got a reporter with some balls too…

Sullivan should just admit he prefers Rust on that top line no matter what. Like stop pretending you're putting together the best combination for the top two lines, just admit you have an obsession with Rust on the top line and getting more minutes than he should because you think he's a much better player than he actually is.

What lol. I am so confused.

The penguins have the same wins as losses because they blew chunks on a road trip.

I think if it were up to anybody around here, they'd all be gone tomorrow. Prices to get teams to take bloated contracts are sky-high right now, and with Dumo being a bag of hot diarrhea on skates, I doubt anybody's gonna really be clamoring to snag him despite his resume. But GMs are f***ing idiots when it comes to veteran leadership and Cup experience, so who knows.

Blueger's worthless and McGinn is a cap burden so he'll require a bit of a sweetener until the cap jumps, imo.

I disagree in Blueger being worthless. in his last 108gp he has 50pts. He has the numbers of a third line center. he only makes 2.2 mill and could easily fill in on someones third line.

he might not be worth 2.2 mil here but he is a good depth player. Ellers makes 3.5 mill and practically has the same numbers as Blueger.

The only issue with him is that sullivan wont play him above line 4.
