I liked Bitetto in his 14 minutes. Seems like the 5/6 guy they were looking for. I hope he can replace Smith/JJ on a constant basis if he continues to play like this.

Rooney and Lemieux gave this team a lot of energy and were more noticeable in less time than our top guys. Seemed like every shift they got the puck behind the defense, just like Kreider asked for but didn't necessarily do tonight, and they drew penalties.

not having deangelo does 2 things:

1) removes a glaring defensive liability
2) allows quinn to not feel forced into giving the third pairing extra minutes. More ice time for Miller, Fox, Trouba, Lindgren is going to do this team wonders.

Lets face it ... we all want the top 4 D out there. 5 and 6 just need to eat 10-15 minutes, play solid defense and not get scored on. TonyD, Smith and JJ dont fit that describtion. Bitteto does and he comes in cheap. Everything happens for a reason.
