That's part of it, we absolutely need better puck management, but the way they pressure the puck all over the ice we're gonna cough it up. It's like they're playing chess and we're playing checkers. Again just not a good match up.

The thing is if you see the Pens, out of the four game stretch we’re on against playoff teams, only winning one of those 4 games, then that tells you all you need to know about their chances to make the playoffs

I don't necessarily agree. I think you think we can play a certain way and be successful against this team. I don't see it happening. The last two + seasons suggest we can't. We could play our A game and still lose. Unless their goalie implodes inexplicably the result very likely isn't in doubt.

That's the thing, good teams will throw little streaks like the Pens had consistently. I don't think anyone feels this team is that kind of team. They are a .500 team and winning a couple and lose 3 is way more likely.

I know, I remember when we used to do it. I can't see use winning more than one game in our next 3, if they even win one.

We had like 15 shots. If we're wishcasting for better goaltending early, NJD could have easily asked for the same.

If anything, the pens had 3 PP's and did not score a single goal and gave up a short hander, and gave up way more shots on them than they got, or really high danger one's.

They were 42% in the dot, 26 shots total, and they really only lead in one category with 19 hits.

All that tells you they were chasing the game, but they twice had leads so it is misleading.

Just a snap back to reality of what a fringe playoff team is. Good some nights and poor almost the same amount.

Pretty much this.

This was a game where you needed Jarry to hold a 1 or 2 goal performance and our stars to be the best. They seemed to use that up and, naturally, there isn't any scoring beyond that. Our depth isn't going to shine or steal anything against a youthful, hungry, and quite interference-y Devils team.

We had about 3 shifts in the game where they were turning their heads before retrieving pucks thanks to Accari. Welp, nobody else can lay a hit so that didn't last. So on both sides - example of why the Pens aren't a threat and example why the Devils will just get rolled come playoff time.

If WBS had any healthy options, I would be curious if a slightly different mix would provide a jolt.

I'm really curious to see what bringing up Poulin and Puustinen would do if Poulin was healthy.

You could run a stout defensive third line of DOC-Eller-Acciari while using a fourth line of Zohorna-Poulin-Puustinen as an energy line with some offensive potential.
