It's a good trade, not sure this team gives a f*** though for it to make any difference, and Sullivan obviously won't use him properly, so it sucks for Tamasino.
Had 20 in 41 last year with a little over 12 minutes per game. 7 goals 13 assists.

I mean I guess. I dunno. I'm not going to be overtly negative about everything.

Tomasino is an absolute fantastic pick-up for a 4th. Even if he amounts to nothing. It shows Kyle at least has some sense.
One can argue Granlund is a fantastic pick-up for a 2nd, it doesn't mean the GM making the trade has sense.

Now if Dubas follows this by canning Sullivan or at the very least dumping Beauvillier, I'll gladly swallow my tongue. But he won't.

I mean don't get me wrong it's a REALLY nice trade in a vacuum and shows some rare sense and insight by the GM to address a need (f***ing TALENT) on this team without spending hardly anything (depending on how we feel about worthless draft picks, today).

But like... what difference does it realistically make? Who holds the lineup card and makes the decisions on where to put these guys to give them the "best chance" to succeed? Still the same guy? Great then I don't care.

For a Tolvanen situation to unfold you actually need to give the guy a shot - that's not only on coaching but the GM to force a spot for him on the roster too (for the trade to actually make sense).

We're still healthy scratching Puustinen but you guys want to get excited over this?

I'm pretty pessimistic of the coaching staff using him properly, if he's in the bottom 6 in a checking role, there should be massive red flags on how this team identifies the on ice talent.... I mean there already are massive red flags, but maybe add safety reflective tape to these red flags, mix in sos flags.... Anything god damn it!!!!

Comparing Puustinen to Tomasino is a joke.

Tomasino has the exact skill set Sullivan loves to overplay.

I think everyone can appreciate the move.

The debate comes over whether it matters at-all at this point. Dudes contract will come and go and he'll have gotten a total of 14.5 NHL games under Sullivan. Any thoughts of him coming in to boost Sid seem frivolous.

So if the intention is to somehow extend him - it'll be done blindly because the only chances he'll get under Sully will be a few games here and there for like 8 total minutes of defensive zone time flanked by offensively inept players.

I'm not directly comparing their skillsets (These guys obviously belong in different parts of the lineup) just their deservingness to actually play. Man you really actually believe Sullivan will play him!

All Tomasino has to do is ingratiate himself with Sid during one practice/shift and that's that. Sullivan or no, he'll be on Sid's wing. I think that's a big reason we've seen so much of Beau tbh. Sid likes playing with him. /shrug

Still think Sullivan's fired the moment the RS ends.

The top six is barren to the point he's been running Malkin - Crosby - Rakell. He obviously doesn't trust any of the players up there but Rust and Raks.

You think he cares? Why would he try to help Malkin of all people?

As long as Crosby gets the best of whatever is left and he doesn't have to hear about it he doesn't give a shit.

I'm not sure what the question is here.

I think Sullivan doesn't want Beauvillier or Bunting in the top six. So, getting a player who has 100+ NHL games under his belt and has scored in the NHL, I think there is a better chance of seeing him play then Puustinen or any of these AHLers.

Oh. I 100% disagree so I see the rub, here.

Bunting will get his chances due to simply the proximity to THAT trade and I think it's pretty obvious that Sullivan already loves him some Beau.

We shall see. Will be interesting and I'm just excited Dubas is actually making intelligent trades that match up with his "plan".
