Even the NHL Network pundits are flabbergasted Sullivan hasn’t been fired yet lol…this is from a poster on another site:

“was watching the NHL Network last night when they had a segment on "What do the Penguins do now?" Stu Grimson and Dave Reid both mentioned how weird it was that Sullivan (whom they both praised as a coach) hadn't been canned. Grimson said that he couldn't figure out how KD hasn't done "what 31 other teams would have done before this..." which is fire the coach. They both mentioned how regardless of how good a coach is that teams just need a change sometimes, and that this is one of those times.

Reid in particular was critical of the Eller trade saying that he was one of the few who seemed to care at this point, and that the way he was playing the Pens could probably have gotten more at the deadline. He did mention that they have some untradeable contracts and guys who no one would want right now, so maybe he was the only chip that could go at the moment. It was interesting - and in line with what most on this board have been saying for longer than we wanted - to see guys on the NHL Network basically saying that we're all not crazy in saying that you fire the coach first, then you see what you need to do next. I think not firing Sullivan is part of the reason we all are feeling that this team is spinning its wheels between admitting it's time to rebuild and keeping up the company line of "we're not that far off and Sully is the one to get us over the top." Rip the band-aid off, for expletives' sake! I'm ready. I can handle bad hockey if it's for an ultimate rebuild. I cannot handle bad hockey that comes from a stale group led by a stale coach”

Hey you can't argue with results... why mess with a formula that is getting you results like losing by a f***ing touchdown?
I shudder to think of what might happen if they fired Sully and ended up with a dipshit coach, man. They might miss the playoffs or risk landing a guy who can't/won't coach prospects.

What's that? To shreds you say...

Do they even have the ability to have Poulin as a scratch? They only have 12 forwards on the roster right now I believe.

With Eller gone, they have 12 F, 7 D and 3 G on the roster.

Actually not too sure... I keep forgetting that Glass is out longish term even though Dubas name dropped him yesterday as a guy they want to potentially move up the lineup (along with Acciari lol)

I do know Ned is starting for sure.

Excited to see what kinda bullshit Dubas can manifest when he does his best Hextall impression after dumping Eller + Petts and turning the saved cap into some horrendous fit that Sullivan inevitably uses in the dumbest f***ing way imaginable.

He is a concussion. So could be out for a day or 18 weeks as we know.

According to LeBrun the Sabres are looking to make a big trade. Rakell? Pettersson?
They already have 3 high end LD. I imagine they trade one for a RD.

Rakell can play both wings but is more of a right Wing where they need left wings or an upgrade at 2C to move Cozens to LW.

I don't think our top 2 assets we can move easily are what they want.

If DOC or Bunting could start playing well maybe they'd be an option.

Regarding Dubas not firing Sullivan, I think the potential logic is that Dubas believes Sullivan's presence keeps Crosby, Malkin, and Letang comfortable and willing to stick around. In turn, their presence hypothetically could help young players to learn their work ethic and what it takes to win. For all their faults, Sid, Geno, and Letang do work incredibly hard to maintain their bodies and withstand the grind of the season as much as possible and still compete at a high level.

I think if Dubas felt that Sullivan had lost the core, Sullivan would be gone.

People need to get it into their heads that Dubas does not have the power to fire Sullivan without FSG approving it first. You think he is the GM and President because he was the best guy for the job?
He is both because no one would take the job to be a lame duck GM acting on the whims of a coach that is in bed with the owner.

Is part of Kyle's plan to make Malkin and Letang "comfortable" include saying the whole roster is up for trade including them?

This would be a mistake by Dubas if he keeps Sullivan just to keep the core happy.

I'm already fully on board with trading Letang if you can get futures for him and I'm inching more and more to asking Geno and Sid if they're willing to consider a trade as well.
