Petts has like 0 offense outside of his breakout pass and he managed to hit 30 once.

20-30 pts for pickering is not out of the question,

Heck he is on pace for 27 already as a 20 yr old rookie :sarcasm: lol

Well it’s a shitty trade regardless…I think Hog is a cap dump frankly given his contract…he shouldn’t be considered a return for Petts unless he’s packaged with a first or a very good prospect, which is not Juulson lol…let’s hope the friend is not connected

Couldn't agree more, if we are that serious about picking up Hoglander, like I mentioned previously it would have to be in a separate move and on the cheap side. And if Vancouver really wants Petts, than Hoglander would basically be a throw in on top of picks and prospects

If it happens, the deal is almost definitely going to be Pettersson for Hoglander and a 2nd, with potentially a 3rd piece being included on the Canucks side. I could see that deal as is being fair if the Penguins don’t have to use a retention slot on Pettersson, so he’d be going at $4 million.
 
Given our little "streak" here, I'm not convinced a move from our end will come to fruition in the next couple of weeks. It's not a stretch to say "they seem to be hitting a stride". 1pt from WC2 with several teams in the mix looking pretty mid.

Wouldn't shock me to see Dubas hold Pettersson until closer to the TDL to see where we are really at. If that means that Vancouver makes a deal with Columbus for Provorov or something like that to fill the gap early, so be it. And unless Vancouver wants to do a separate deal for Hoglander and they want back Nieto, Acciari, Hayes, etc, I'm not entirely sure where Hoglander fits in the lineup (using my projection of Sullivan's thoughts) but I'd happily have him on the 4th line at the very least. Hogs-Acciari-Glass could be a decent 4th line.
 
I don't think Hoglander's a pure cap dump, but he's absolutely not the kind of guy that would do well on a Sullivan team.

I'd much rather just take whatever combination of picks (ideally a 1st) and prospects we can get for the guy as opposed to another meh roster player.

Don't think Hoglander's cap matters much either way. He might need to be included if Petts is going to Vancouver, but Dubas better get a 1st or really good prospect back. But as for his $3M it's whatever. This team's dogshit and will continue to get worse until Sid retires and the wheels really fall off--$3M AAV is pretty much an afterthought nowadays.

Hoglander is objectively not a cap dump and I don't know why you'd even begin to argue he is.

His value is likely a 3rd rounder or so. Dubas should still be able to get a 2nd and another asset back for him. Key word there is should.

I'm honestly skeptical Hoglander has much value or Pettersson is very likely to bring back a 1st. The most apples to apples comparison we have to Pettersson was Tanev last year, who was traded for Grushnikov, a 2nd and a conditional 3rd that was not met. The equivalent of that today is probably just D-man Elias Pettersson and a 2nd from Vancouver.

I think the best case scenario for a Pettersson return is probably Hoglander, D-man Elias Pettersson and a 2nd from Vancouver. I am extremely skeptical he can bring back a return better than that, with or without including a piece like Hoglander in the deal. Defensemen in Pettersson's play style just don't really bring back 1sts very often, look at Marino last off-season when he was moved for 2 2nds.
 
On top of being seemingly yet another middle six, low ceiling, no-standout-attributes kind of player that I am utterly fed up with collecting doesn't it raise anyone else's eyebrows a bit that Hoglander seems to be in basically every single Vancouver fan trade proposal/rumor mill for going on like two seasons? It's not like they are in a rebuild and are looking for picks for the sake of picks.

Hoglander loves to go to the net and he had some speed, and his defensive impact isn’t terrible. I think he could do well in Sullivans system.

Because he has the same amount of points as Noel Acciari this year and makes a 3 million x 3 starting next year.

And he scored 24 goals last year.

Hoglander being bad this year has decreased his value from probably about 2 2nds to a 3rd right now. 25 games doesn't take him from that to a cap dump.

Lots of players randomly score 20 goals. See Noel Acciari.

He's put up 23 more points than Tomasino has in his career in like nearly 100 more games.

But he isn't and like I said above. He's produced at a lesser amount in his career than Tomasino who just got moved for a 4th.

The contract should not be attractive and if Dubas pays over a 3rd without dumping a bottom six player, he's a fool.

It's hilarious to me how you went from saying Hoglander would be a great centerpiece to get back for Guentzel like 8 months ago to saying that he now has negative value today, just because Hoglander started the year poorly this year.
