I still don't believe this organization has the guts to fire Sullivan, even with a good replacement opening up.

There were replacements in the off season too.

I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I would bet on the Sun exploding within the next two years over Sullivan being fired within the same timeframe.

But then again I'm a degenerate gambler.

Hahahaha... just realized that Granlund has more points than Crosby/Malkin

f***, man. Feels bad.
He's probably not being utilized like prime Jordan Staal. Imagine that. Play an offensive player in an offensive role and he produces. Play a tiny, offensive forward on your shutdown defensive line and he sucks. Weird how that works.

20 games lol. Pens have been garbage for about 200 games now. Difference in standards.

Anyone who thinks this team is serious about anything that it does need only look at this. Difference in standards, indeed. The Penguins have resigned themselves to being a clownshow for the sake of a coach and non-existent Olympic bragging rights.

Well this is a team whose entire defensive gameplan is "go out there and wing it, boys!" so no surprise.

But really though... with Kingerski all but confirming that the team's DZ setup is seriously "just figure it out" -- what does this coaching staff DO? Dave Quinn is "coaching the defensemen" -- to do what, exactly? Grow sweet mustaches? We all know Mike Sullivan checked out like 5+ years ago and is basically just trying out new ties in front of a live audience these days. So like... where does all this loyalty and unfettered ballwashing even come from?

This is a professional sports team with guys making millions of dollars and they are actively coaching the defense (which has been a horrible issue for years and well worth tweaking to get better) to just... go out there and give 'em hell. That's insane to me.

lol a mod locked the main Montgomery thread and simultaneously told people to post a legitimate link if they have one. To a locked thread. That he locked.
No one said mods were smrt.

That said, I do gush at the idea of firing Sullivan and getting Montgomery. That's something that would have to come together really fast.

I mean he's still a dumpster fire, pixies. It's just that now he's a FLOATING dumpster fire!

I dunno if that's actually an improvement. But it LOOKS better!

I wanted Montgomery here 2 years ago when he was with St. Louis.

That said he seems like a weird guy, even sober. That one show that showed BTS footage in the Bruins locker room.. the guy is just very cringe. Before their 1st playoff game he had this weird speech where he separated the team in half and.. I don’t know. It wasn’t bad. It wasn’t Hitchcock head games, it was just weird. And obviously it didn’t work.

I think his schtick would have our guys rolling their eyes and not buying in. The Bruins as a whole are pretty corny. They take that “play our game” rhetoric to an extreme.

Wish they could hire Monty, pretty absurd firing

Yea the Bruins friendship circle thing was cringe as balls

If every d-man looks like shit in a system then you have to look at the forwards. They don’t slow anyone down in the N zone and they don’t support the breakout enough, or cover for pinching D well enough.

I mean the forwards D coverage on this team is ass don't mistake me but any defensive system evidently predicated on gradeschool-level concepts like "just go pick up your man and play hard" is gonna get exposed daily by NHL rosters/coaching/scouting.
