Vellucci is out? We are losing our best bench coach now? and Jarry is starting.... wow, this could get ugly with his situation immediately. The Fans will turn on him no matter what the first goal against looks like, and HOW does he come back after that? I don't see any way he can.

Do we even touch the puck tonight?

And Edmonton picked up Kapanen lol crazy times

McDavid must have gotten tired of red-faced screaming at the same players over and over again and needed a new one. Kap is a good candidate for that.

And yes... this is going to be a bloodbath tonight. No intentions of watching TBH.

If that offer comes, Dubas should do it in a heartbeat.
7.9M less on the books, and a 2nd to boot? For a washed and ancient Letang? Hell yeah.
Oh I mean, yeah, 100% you take that deal if it comes up. I just don't think anyone offers anything close to that. I think his value is around that of Burns when he got traded. Two prospect and a 3rd.
I love Letang, but it doesn’t make any sense for him to be here anymore beyond feelings. His contract was given to ensure a couple more elite years on the last years of plausible contention and it didn’t happen that way, at all.
Feelings matter here though. We saw with Geno. We saw it with Sid. People need to accept it.

Except NJD were able to get 2 2nds out of him instead of corpse of Ty Smith and a f***ing 3rd.

Pretty much the same return. Young 21/22 year old top twenty 1st round draft pick who had 43 points in 100ish games and a third. Two 2nds.

I don't really care about any of these players individually. I'm just pointing out that there has been a revolving door of defensemen (and bottom 6 forwards) and each time we're told "Those other guys stunk. THESE are the guys Sullivan needs to be successful."

Sure, but Sullivan is eternal.

I'm operating with the head canon theory that the only reason Sully is still the coach is that Vellucci isn't back yet to take over as interim HC.

The bolded is the answer. And this has been an issue with Sullivan for years. Instead of adjusting things to fit the players he has, he constantly forces the team to play a style/system its incapable of playing.

It's ridiculous that he'd employ a system that only like 0.01% of NHLers can play in rather than a system that fits any and all players.

"Our system is great as long as you think the game like prime Wayne Gretzky, have the hands of prime Mario Lemieux, skate like prime Bobby Orr, and are as strong and powerful as prime Gordie Howe."
We caught lightning in a bottle getting a coach that implemented a system our roster could play to perfection and won two cups with it. Then the league adjusted, our roster eroded and got older, and Sully stubbornly refused to adjust with it.

Let's play the hypothetical game.

Boston continues their slide. JJ isn't likely to sit around and let a coach run his team into the ground, so they fire Montgomery.

Sullivan, now seen as one of the best coaches in the league so of course JJ wants him (plus a Boston boy), then decides to resign and go take the Boston job.

What odds are we giving this?

Not sure, the Bruins already turfed Sullivan and the fans have a big hate for him from years ago.

Going to say less than a 1% chance

Honestly, as much as I would love to see Malkin, Crosby and Letang finish their whole careers here I'd be okay with trading Geno and Letang if they wished to move.

That's even better than the Anderson deal, if we're not taking any cap back. Anderson is a net negative contract. We'd clear 24.4M and get 3 prospects. That'd be amazing.

Wdym? .659 career coach
I sure as Hell trust him to develop youth better than Mike.

lol that's not what I mean at all.

I'd be thrilled if they were to do that. But they will not.

Best to just think of 2027 and the possibilities from that point on as far as coaching is concerned.

I mean they DID hire Dave Quinn. Are you not impressed?!?

Gotta do them a solid. If that's what they want, then so be it.
