I think they have deep pockets but that doesn't mean they'll tolerate a money-losing entity.

I think FSG are kinda crappy owners, especially in the Sullivan extension. The statement BusinessGoose posed was that they were making money so they didn't care. I'm not sure the Penguins/Sportsnet are making that much money right now. Or any.

Exactly. Millionaires and Billionaires don't like losing money

I'd be shocked if they traded Jarry. Shocked.

I think that speculation is clearly about Ned, though. Which makes a ton of sense with him being a UFA.

If they don't trade Ned, they should extend him at a reasonable price. Unsure if he wants to be paid though and not play behind this joke of a defensive team.

hot take. If the Penguins trade Jake and play Rakell his minutes we won’t see any difference in the point production.
Of who? I think Jake outproduces Rakell.

Rakell, probably not. Sid, maybe...but probably not. He seems to be doing fine.

I don't think we see a huge difference if we replace Jake with Rakell and play Rakell 20+ minutes a night on the 1st PP and exclusively on Sid's line from a production stand point.
I also take it a step further and think Jake struggles without Sid. He’s a great player, but it’s just a hunch. I could be absolutely wrong, ha.

Dubas could restock our entire system with young talent if he does what he should do at this TDL. This is the last chance for the Pens to finally get ASSET Management correct. If not, he will damn them into obscurity until 2030 at the earliest.
What do people really think they are going to get at the deadline? Everyone on this board hates all of the Pens players and now they think Dubas will completely overhaul the organization at the deadline by trading some of them? What? Guentzel will get a #1 and probably a decent young player. Other than that, you're getting, at best, 2nds or 3rds for Reilly Smith and Rakell and Eller. Maybe you can get a 1st for Pettersen but I don't think they move him. People grossly overestimate the value the trade pieces have (or maybe if they are that valuable, you just keep them and see what happens since the Flyers are trash and Metro 3 is very much in play).

At the very least Eller and Acciari (if anyone takes him) should be gone at the deadline. Eller has been good but he's a guy you'd love to get at 900k for the fourth line. Not at 2.4m. I also don't wanna bet on him being an NHL caliber player next year. He's on his last legs. Team needs to desperately get younger and shed cap from these meh players.

I don't. I think Jake if traded wins a cup wherever he goes (if he goes to one of the big teams (Edmonton, Vegas, Dallas, Florida, Carolina).

He can do it before the draft as well after playoff teams get their draft rank and they see what holes their team actually has. Always easier to make deals in the off-season as well.

Jake is the only one that HAS to go by the TDL. And if that is the only move, I'm okay with it...until I see the 24-25 opening day roster.

That said, I was thinking through teams that might actually do a trade and sign when Guentzel and it's tough to find teams that are a match. I can see maybe MAYBE Dallas, possibly Carolina. After that, it gets really tough. Other teams with the cap space and desire would be better suited to just sign him in FA in July.

Posters who say players SUCK Now want them traded & think they will get something for said player who sucks or makes to much money!! Brilliant illustrates my point of Emotional & Mental Illness better than I could ever hope to

Came up with kind of a prospective "getting younger" while still competing this year and next.

This deadline:

Jake Guentzel at 50% to Vegas for 1st, 2nd, Kolesar and Brisson
Lars Eller to Dallas for Steel and a 5th
Reilly Smith with 1.25 mil retained for a 2nd.

During the offseason:

Teravainen at 6.5 x 4
Novak at 3.75 x 4
Barabanov at 3.25 x 2
Josh Brown at 2 x 3
Lankinen at 1.24 x 1
Puusy 925k x 2

Trade a 3rd for Middleton.

Gives you..

Rakell - Crosby - Rust
Tuevo - Malkin - Puusy
Brisson - Novak - Barabanov
DOC - Acciari - Kolesar
Pulju, Nieto

Pettersson - EK65
Middleton - Letang
Graves - Brown
Ludvig

Jarry
Lankinen

I have no idea what you're trying to say here. Something about your emotional and mental illness...?

Novak is an interesting option that I didn't mind. I'd feel a lot better about him if they can jettison one or both of Eller and Acciari. Barbs would be a solid bottom 6 option but in your lineup there, you're missing Bemstrom. Not sure if he's in WBS or not but I imagine his existence means you don't have to do Barabanov.

TT is like Rust. He's 28 and a UFA looking for that one last deal. If the goal is to be getting younger, is he what we sign? I also can't imagine he's getting a 4yr deal. Someone will give him a 6-7yr deal.

I don’t know if you’re going to get anyone that wants them. Maybe Eller for depth?
Who knows honestly. The center talent pool is very, very slim at the moment. There's just not a ton of capable guys that are available so maybe?

Bemstrom's deal is up.

I don't see Tuevo getting that type of deal tbh. He's exactly the type of forward that gets pushed out.

Smith and a goalie, especially a goalie could get a bountiful return.

100%, Kyles next week and a half are paramount in garnering futures and maximizing our trade return.

I mentioned trading Jake to Vegas last week in a similar fashion, with retention and Brisson and a 1st involved. Great minds think alike.
