Deal sounds like shit.

Should've just re-signed Guentzel if the alternative is adding another middle 6 tweener and milquetoast prospects.
Nobody has announced the deal. If Morrow is the main guy then he’s the Pens best prospect I guess

I do think we’re seeing that a big portion of the fan base does not care to let the core ride it out. I wonder if that really becomes an issue next season.
I can't speak for everyone. But I am much more conflicted.

My head wants the rebuild to start now. There is zero realistic chance that the Pens can rejigger this team to become more than a borderline playoff team, and a one and done pretender if they make it.

But if the core wants to ride it out here, they deserve it. o my heart gets it.

So, like most things my thoughts are not black and white but firmly in the grey regarding this issue.

I’d be very happy to see the core ride it out.

The issue is that management thinks Mike Sullivan is part of the core.

Yeah, I think I agree with not only how you describe the two sides, but also that I feel similar. I guess it’s easier for me to be okay with the core riding it out because I’m simply not as invested as I used to be, so the losses don’t really hurt.

And if the team was a legit cup contender then we could have that discussion.

In this case? It is irrelevant whether they keep Sully or let him walk.

Revisit it when they have a young talented core coming up that need to be coached.

Exactly. Hate the fact that we are taking Bunting back, if the rest of the return is not stellar. What the heck we need Bunting for? We aren't getting (much) younger and certainly not better. If we do get a blue chipper and a 1st, then ok, I will accept Bunting as part of what it took to get them.

Apparently there are some smart people on other boards saying that morrow is a kid who has refused to sign with the hurricanes the past two seasons and may be choosing to play out his college career and then go UFA…just FYI
