I can't blame them. We shouldn't have signed him for 2 years but whatever..

Teams probably think they can do better via UFA with that 2.5 million and find a younger player that will give them the same production and 200 foot game
I think the only comparable UFA C this year is Blueger who's probably going to get similar money.

But whatever. I don't care. I've been happy with Eller's play. If it took a second year to get him to sign, so be it. I'd rather have him this year and next than not at all.

This is the ultimate "hold my beer" post. I hope our GM (i.e. Mike Sullivan) is not reading this board.

Don't worry. Some of the posters around here will say it is a great return regardless and then in a few months will be like "I can't believe how bad the Guentzel return was."

Clock work. Just like the UFA work by Dubas.

lol Jarry is far from the problem and has had a great season so far despite the pathetic team and defense in front of him.

You say Graves, now that's a horrible f***ing contract!

agreed, but who besides New Jersey, and of all teams in the playoffs would be looking right now not only for a goalie but a starter?
So I disagree, but for the sake of this discussion, I’ll agree.

We’ve had quite a few years with jarry as the starter, including some when the skaters were definitely good enough. He wasn’t. He isn’t the answer. So since he’s not the answer and he’s put up a great season, he should definitely have a lot of value and the penguins should capitalize on it, no?

It would be pretty funny for us to do what Clarke/Fletcher/Philly failed to do with Giroux (who was open to re-signing, but they shut the door on him).

Imagine a haul like Tippett+1st+whatever AND having Jake re-sign.
I mean Tippett return looks good now because he broke out in Philly.

If he does not want to trade Eller, fine. Just don't spew garbage like we want to get younger.

If you cannot trade the third-line center, then what are we even talking about here?

The goaltending market is non-existent right now. One team is looking for a goaltender and they only have eyes for one goaltender.

Friedman said he was looking at trading a goaltender, but Dubas was also supposedly all in on trading multiple players.

So far, he has traded Nylander and surrendered a potential third-rounder.

Not impress. Therrien style.

A re we really gonna have to wait? I feel like we’ll know immediately if it’s an acceptable return or not.

Players may fail here (look, every good player we acquire struggles here), but if Dubas gets two quality nhl players for Guentzel, I feel like he did his job, regardless of how they pan out.

It was said that no one wanted Eller, not that we didn’t want to trade him

Wonder why!

None of the prospects we've heard brought up are stepping into the NHL this year or next.

The report was nobody wants Eller, not that Dubas wouldn't trade him.
Eller is a former cup winner and has 12 goals on the season. He'd be a 4th line center upgrade on a lot of playoff teams.

Maybe Dubas is just a shitty salesman.

Who was the GM that sold Shero Crankshaft for 2 2nd round picks? Get him in there. He'd move Eller

Emily Kaplan on The Point on ESPN that she believes it’s happening tonight and it’s to Carolina.
Didn’t she also say another prominent player was definitely to Carolina in the past year and jt was immediately wrong? I’m forgetting which one.

Bunting is out and Lebrun speculating he could be part of the package.

I know there will be other pieces but he’s 1 year younger than Guentzel lol

Pretty sure he actually works for the Pens

Any package involving Bunting is just stupid regardless.

Cue Empo defending how Bunting is a decent top nine option at a good cap hit if we can get some guy in Europe he's never watched.
