The deal hasn't even been announced yet and people are already bitching about it :laugh:

Last off-season, Hayes was coming off a 44 point season and was traded for a 6th. He's coming off a 29 point season last season. The Penguins are very probably getting paid to take him on here, at least to some level.

People are complaining about it because we have zero reason to believe the Penguins are getting paid to take him on

Hayes was traded for a 6th last year while coming off a better year, and Dubas has explicitly said that this team would be a team that would take on bad deals to get assets back.

There is no reason to think they're paying positive value for Hayes right now.
 
Waiting this long for the details is giving me flashbacks to the Gudbranson trade being announced like a half hour after the deadline ended.
