I floated the idea out before the expansion draft that maybe muzzin should be left exposed. You could see him getting visibly slower for a few years now. This year, he has simply rolled off the cliff.

Wouldn't mind giving him a rest tomorrow and running these pairings for a night. He looks gassed. The giveaways and lack of mobility are really starting to stand out with him.

Which describes all season. They're towards dead last in the NHL for goals per game on average.

The effort is always there. Can't win if you can't score goals. Campbell can't have a .940%+ every game. It's not possible.

The offense is the issue this season... big time. God goaltending has kept them winning games, that's all.

Since effort, goaltending and team defense seemed to plague to Leafs for years I am ok with dominating play and winning 3-2 or 2-1.

That being said, I am sick of the turnovers tonight

The guy is 32 (going on 33), and guys that play that reckless style, they tend to fizzle out faster than other players. Muzzin is on his last toes IMO, he was never fast to begin with, but father time and injuries have taken their big time toll on him, it is what it is.

Muzzin at this point is a 5-6D, but being asked to play a top 4D role, this is more of a Keefe problem than a Muzzin one IMO.

Muzzin is getting a little older so you have to keep monitoring to see where he’s at.

low key wouldn't have minded if he was exposed in Seattle draft for this very reason. I think another team will bite on Muzzin though in off-season and offer us assets.

It's not all that surprising, aside from Matthews, JT and Nylander the rest are unreliable when it comes to scoring goals. Not high at all on our offense this year.
