If they could heist two 1sts for Dumo and Zucker. I'd do it hands down.

Then you'd have 3 1sts to toss around or move up in the draft etc.
Without question. It f***ing blows my mind how anybody thinks that's punting on the season and tanking. The season's best case scenario is making the playoffs just to dive headlong into a woodchipper with the way the East has loaded up.

If the team's hellbent on "guys we're still all-in, promise" then move those two guys, load up assets and chase a big name trade at the draft or something.

I sadly don't think they're going to be selling either Zucker or Dumoulin at the deadline. Zucker's a very important player in their top-6 and they still probably have delusions of contending. Dumoulin is probably both partially that and also having a week to week injury with Ty Smith leaving them with questionable D depth. They're only 8 healthy defensemen deep right now, and trading Dumoulin for futures would turn that into 7.
Zucker at 50% in this climate probably gets us a 1st+2nd though lol.

Original Petry trade was:

Blueger & Pettersson for Petry & Poehling. Habs ultimately turned it down, demanding Matheson.

Hextall was always willing to trade Blueger. The Penguins are now clearing cap space because no one claimed McGinn.

Process should have started months ago

Hextall said last week he’s not happy with the bottom 6. Today 2 of them are gone and another was waived. Not very sleepy on that end.

Imagine if the team didn't give Carter that second year or NMC. Hmm...

If they didn't have that, they wouldn't have any bottom-6 players left on this team.

It's not that much relative to what JR did, but Hextall is making pretty substantial bottom-6 shakeups this year. Without Carter having a NMC, I think all 4 of the big money players in the Penguins bottom-6 would have either been traded or waived by now.
