Crosby 36 next season, Letang 36, Malkin 37.

It’s not happening lol If these guys want to ride off together, would love to see it. Would not love seeing constant attempts to find them pieces to “help them” via trading draft picks.

I mean, weren’t we all assuming this when Hextall was hired. He is a rebuild guy. I think he’s been told to keep the team competitive, which translates to mediocre. And do his thing behind the scenes - unfortunately for him - he will take the brunt of peoples frustration because they expect going for a cup every year - because we owe people or something.

In a world where Blueger gets you a 3rd, Zucker (50% retained) gets you a 1st and Dumo (50% retained) might as well, if not, definitely a 2nd imo. Still don't believe a team that runs Puustinen-Geno-Rust and Petts-Letang in place of the roles those two fill is so much worse they miss the playoffs. And if they do, whatever.

Yes, yes. I realize it won't happen. And that's why this team's gonna turn like a 5-6 year rebuild into like a 10+ year rebuild. They won't sell, they can't buy, so stand pat, and scratch Carter until he retires this summer.

If they could heist two 1sts for Dumo and Zucker. I'd do it hands down.

Then you'd have 3 1sts to toss around or move up in the draft etc.

It turns out that Smith is out week to week, so I don't know that they'd be comfortable with trading POJ or Pettersson right now. I'm honestly not sure what a Vancouver deal would look like.

The Penguins have cap space but I don't know what assets they'd be using or who they'd be targeting.

Neither does hextall. He is just throwing darts at boards now.

I sadly don't think they're going to be selling either Zucker or Dumoulin at the deadline. Zucker's a very important player in their top-6 and they still probably have delusions of contending. Dumoulin is probably both partially that and also having a week to week injury with Ty Smith leaving them with questionable D depth. They're only 8 healthy defensemen deep right now, and trading Dumoulin for futures would turn that into 7.
