Curious if the Oilers land Hyman, he’s something that team desperately needs - A winger that isn’t an idiot at both ends.

I mean Jake’s shoulder is a ticking time bomb as well since the Penguins doctors operated on it, they’re less competent than that :eek::eek::eek: on the Simpsons that, Dr Nick.

I dunno. All shoulder injuries are tricky. But Jake has had one and it was by all accounts handled fine. Tarasenko has had multiple (was it four total?) and all but the last one were evidently botch-jobs.

He carries a 7.5M cap hit and 9.5M in real money next season. I can understand being reluctant. Though for the record I would not be surprised to see him bounce back big on a different team.

What would really suck is if the rumors were true and there is some kind of side deal where Philly ends up with him.

It also seems like Seattle valued grit and character pretty highly. Lotta late rounders or undrafted, guys that spent a long time in the minors, even 3 ECHL alumni. They’re going to buy in and be hard to play against though on paper they still only look like a .500 club.
Mike Sullivan is looking at that roster and is like…

The Oilers liked the Lucic contract so much that they want to do it again with Hyman

I wonder how long it takes McDavid to demand a trade.

Not really. Tarasenko is pretty much Ottawa Bobby Ryan at this point of his career. Will still be a decent player but inconsistent and injury prone.

Guess we'll see. 30+ goal scorers with that kind of frame and mindset don't just fall out of the sky. And he has a track record of producing. But again... shoulder injuries are rough, man.

Ryan was bigger than Tarasenko.

Difference being Tarasenko was a 70 pt guy multiple years and wasn't playing with prime Getzlaf or still good Selanne.

Whoever is left holding the bag on signing Zach "Plays The Right Way" Hyman is gonna look silly by this time next season.

I mean... if the rumors of his demands are true.

That has "Chicago Cup Era Overachieving Grinder Contract" written all over it.

The funny part is Hyman has been terrible in the playoffs.

He's had a ton of injuries in general. The skill is obviously there still, but he's gotten slower and more fragile.

I bet he can still rip 25-30 goals but not at a PPG pace, like a JVR type of 30 goal scorer, very few assists.

He had 3 surgeries, 2 were handled poorly, his 3rd one was done right and it’s why he realized how badly the other 2 were done. You know how you eat Steak at what you’d deem fancy restaurants until you’re in Japan and have a Wagyu steak and realize you’ve been lied to? That’s what happened to Tarasenko. He’s healthy, but if the Flyers do that side deal, good for them, he’ll destroy on that team.

I gotta wonder about these team doctors, man. Seems like some pretty shady business, oftentimes.

"Hey everybody!"
