Speculation: Penguins off day talk thread: Yes, Sully is still the coach

Harkins and Nylander are in the lineup because they're down to 12 forwards now and they're on the last game of a road trip.

They'll make any roster adjustments when they return to Pittsburgh.

Dubassholes whole thing is the team has won against good teams and lost against teams that are in a better spot than them. I wonder how he figures that, teams with lesser rosters or having a worst go of things have beaten this team, even with bigger injuries to key players.

I am still shocked that this muppet is just doing nothing, how many more games does he feel he wants to waste? I feel like he is never going to fire Sullivan this season and will even f*** this roster even more in favor of making it more Sullivan-ized at the deadline, more irreversible damage over 9yrs now of losing players, picks, etc, to make this team more about what Sullivan wants, which has drastically ruined the prospect pool and anyone we did have, never got 1/4 of the shot some useless vets have had.

Somehow, not enough blokes are as mad as me about this.

Harkins to me is just nothing, he does the bare minimum with the experience he has that just isn't acceptable, for Nylander he's coming into a shit show trying to show offense in a bottom 6 that has lost its way for the 50th time, if they're putting a huge emphasis on losing 2 journeyman forwards, that isn't a good look on this coach and his system, but DIpshit Kyle seems to keep ignoring that. Nylander to me would probably figure it out on a team that will give him more of a shot with zero pressure, like how Sprong was with the Kraken getting used to their advantage and his and has blossomed because of it, if not he's Euro league fodder. He just isn't someone they should keep trying at this point, definitely not under this coach.

I would have rather seen Pitlick up over Nylander and Puustinen up over Harkins, at the least. Puustinen on that 3rd line to me would be a better fit, blokes can bitch all they want about him but he's a better player than any give him credit for and as for Pitlick, he has NHL experience and would be fine even spot duty with Geno to shake things up or on the third line with Eller.

Pitlick, Eller, Puustinen - Why the f*** not?

Nah, we need Harkins for the 1 or 2 hits he might sort of land with zero puck skills, zero offensive awareness, can't cycle the puck worth shit, but has some sort of sticktoitiveness that gets Sullivan real swollen in his trouser.

I moved past the rage and am now into comfortable acceptance that this is what we will be for the foreseeable future.

Eventually Sullivan's misdeeds will pile up enough that even Dubas/FSG will be unable to ignore them.

We've officially been surpassed by the Sharks as an entertainment product.

Sullivan is suchs a moron. It was so predictable that Harkins would be his new pet too.

Imagine keeping these guys in the lineup over trying someone new.

Nylander 5gp 0pts +0
Harkins 10gp 0 pts -1
Koppanen 3gp 0 pts +0

Even Shea over Smith
21gp 0pts -1

Like the team cant score right now and you dont even try to bring up some skill. Pitlick has 5pp goals in the AHL and leads the team in goals. at least try something.
That would make too much sense, but this is Mike Sullivan.

2 goals in our last 2 games and the leading Wilkes scorer, Pitlick, and Puustinen, are still in Wilkes?
Going with Koppanen and Carter again.
Why not call up Ty Smith and try him on the PP? Move Malkin to the right wall?
Smith's got 15 points in 20 games in Wilkes. Maybe he'll do better on the unit this year? You know, that 30th ranked Power Play?

This coach sucks. He has zero urgency to fix offensive problems. He just blocks them out.

I hope Florida trounces us 10-0, if that's what it takes to get him outta here. I don't wanna see his face anymore.

Before or after GTA VII is released?

I’d like to know why Tampa seemingly has 5 one-timer options on their 1st unit and we don’t have one?

Oh I know why. Their coaching staff gets their hands dirty and actually coaches that team in every aspect of the game.

Third liner Jeff Carter certainly is a decision
He puts him out there when they need a goal with our goalie pulled so…
Harkins shouldn't even be on the trip. He has been terrible for weeks.
Another one of those who looks like he’s trying real hard and come real close to making NHL level plays, but you can tell it just isn’t there for him and never will be. He’s a guy who will carve out a decent career in the AHL but has zero NHL potential. Unfortunately, Sullivan and coaches like Sullivan fall in love with exactly these types. That’s why we’ve already seen a mass push for him (completely unnatural and unwarranted) over the last few games on the broadcasts.

Somebody's gotta get the d-zone starts and with both scoring lines being pretty shit defensively, it's the 3rd or 4th lines. /shrug

He definitely didn't get coached up, but he was pretty trash while he was here.

I talked about the whole myth of "Everybody plays awesome once they leave" thing people love to bring up. It's bullshit tbh. The only guys who really took off and hit level after leaving were Sprong and Lafferty. Sprong got the team their best defensive defenseman. Lafferty is a whatever loss, imo. Kap, Dumo, Schultz, JJ, Zucker, Reaves, Petry, CDS, etc., etc. are all just as forgettable elsewhere.

Don't get me wrong, the coaching staff is garbage. There's no way Sully and JR should've made it past the Habs play-in imo. But all the hand-wringing over ones that got away is just frustration over the state of the team, not realistically missing genuinely good players imo.
Not all, but I'd add McCann, Gaudreau, and Noesen took off elsewhere.

I'm onboard the "team needs a new coach" bandwagon at this point, so who out there would be both available and interesting as a replacement? I can't see JD Forrest as a viable replacement, and at this point. If I'm going with this fantasy land, they're cleaning house at the NHL level, at least, so who's out there?

I mean, I can think of Boudreau or Gallant being available, and maybe you go with one of them on an interim basis for the rest of the season, but I'd be curious as to who might be out there in the minor or junior leagues that might be interesting at this point. I'd rather not get another re-tread.

I will make one exception on the re-treads - I think I'd be happy to bring back Therrien just for the sheer entertainment factor. I mean, the team wouldn't necessarily get any better, but the post-game pressers would become must-see TV! :sarcasm:
