Letang has been a very complete player this year IMO. Can't help but appreciate the maturity in his game and his willingness to not just adjust his role but so far excel in it.

It’s kind of wild to see him adjust his game and still be a hugely effective player.

I don’t get it. If anyone was going to fall off due to age I would’ve expected it to be Letang out of the big 3.

Same. But what's REALLY wild is none of the three have really fallen off that hard at all and they're all at that age where they should have started like two years ago.

Father Time is undefeated, and sometimes it takes a bit of a wake up call to truly understand that you can't do what you used to do and it's time to adapt.

The biggest challenge going forward is consistency and whether they fall back into old habits. If they can stay with the more appropriate style and figure a few other things out (power play), they could be a dark horse for a run.

I use Father Time is Undefeated all the time, Because it is sadly 100% true

He's just at his best when he's not chasing the game and trying to make something out of nothing.

All 3 have definitely fallen off, but they’ve all adapted. There’s a reason they don’t put up 4 and 5 point nights like they used to, they don’t have the recovery to go hard every shift all season and not get injured. But it’s insane that we’re still getting a responsible version with 90% of the results when they’re maybe putting in 50% of the nightly effort they used to.

Just remember that when you lose your temper and start taking idiotic penalties @Kristopher Letang :sarcasm:

When I think of father time I think the player is pretty much cooked. Crosby/Malkin still killing it.

I always (still do) assumed Geno. Letang is a noted workout freak. He may have lacked some mental tools throughout his career but you can count on his conditioning being elite.

He's totally a guy I expect to be a factor on defense into his early 40s.

As long as Malkin's job is to create and not to dig for pucks in the corner, he'll be fine. Same goes for Crosby.

Every player getting older changes their game. Fortunately Malkin's game was never about physicality or speed, but just pure immense skill. You get to hang onto that a little longer.

Even though is hands/shots/vision may be a little slower, he was so far above the league, that he's now in mortal territory. It also helps that he probably has the best linemates of his career right now (and that includes EK on the backend).

Let's hope he stays healthy and is around for the playoffs (should we make it).

All hail #101!

His skillset is diminishing down to superstar levels.

Our goal differential is heavily inflated by the San Jose game but even if you take that one away we'd still be at +6 which would be good for second in the Metro behind the Rangers.

Interesting how much New Jersey and Carolina are struggling relative to expectations. For the Devils I imagine a lot of that has to do with the Hughes injury although they weren't playing especially well even before that.

Those two teams will probably get it going eventually though. Too good not to. Hopefully we can make hay while they're struggling.
