I don't think the pens are that good. Their defense is their weak spot. They won't do it but they should send one of Crosby or Malkin out for a top defender +.

We're not discussing Toronto's draft opportunities or anything else beyond the coaching change in here. Thanks.

It will be interesting to see how Mike Sullivan does for the penguins. He looked absolutely lost for the Canucks when Torts was suspended.

Hey look, someone who has no clue what the issues are with the Pens.

The Pens are very well set at forward and on D. Their depth is fantastic and they're like 3 or 4 deep in NHL goalies. Their issue is D, and that is mainly due to Letang's horrid start to this year. If he were playing to his normal level, we'd only be down 1 top-4 D.

Hey look, an unbiased opinion. lol.

What did I say that was wrong there? They are very solid in forward depth. Their are 3 deep in net definitely (go look at Murray's AHL stats). Their weak point is on defense. Maybe you should argue accurate points instead of just making stuff up...

Call me crazy but I feel as though Ron Wilson would gel with their roster. Run and gun hockey would work well with an offensive team like theirs. Just thinking ahead for next time.

They're tied together. But Sid is one of about 10 players on the team that is having a career-worst season. And they're barely winning too. There's something wrong with the system.

Crosby, Kessel, Perron, Hornqvist, Fehr, Bonino, Kunitz and Cullen are all on pace for career lows I believe in points per game. That leaves Malkin (who isn't far above his career low in injury riddled 10-11 season), Bennett (who has never played close to full season), and two rookies, Sprong and Plotnikov.

Either we have twelve forwards who simultaneously hit a sharp career decline, or the coach sucks. I have a hard time believing it's the former.

If Sullivan can get the offense going without raising the GAA they should have no problem making the playoffs and some noise in them. The East is as ripe for the pickings as ever this season.

Wow have some compassion man. This is a human being with a family and everything. How would you like if s bunch of people posted on the Internet about how crappy you were at your life's work?
I've had it done to me.
When your fired as a coach you want the press to be all over it .
The worse thing that can happen is you open the paper and no ones says nothing. no one cares.
When people are saying bad things about you ,even talking about you thats good because you know your alive.
When your dead thats when you get people coming out of the woodwork saying what you did right.
Everyone loves to gang up and give a player or coach etc. a kick in the gut when he's down.
You haven't done it ?

I heard Mike Babcock would only take the job on the condition that Kessel was traded.

I don't know if it's true but I heard the same thing.

Well, he played for a complete dumpster fire of an organization before being traded to a team in the midst of discovering their coaching hire isn't working. It's irrelevant.

Toronto fans need to stop the baseless persecution of Kessel. It's like jealous ex syndrome.

That dumpster fire was also in the midst of discovering their coaching wasn't working. The entire team was also struggling much like Pittsburgh is now and that certainly didn't stop anyone from calling them a dumpster fire.

Now Pittsburgh is the dumpster fire, and in their pursuit of a winger for Crosby they handcuffed themselves out of being able to fill the many holes they have on their roster, and are left with one of the worst prospect pools to boot.

Yes, we must be super-duper jealous that the Penguins suck, have no cap-space, have no prospect pool, have no direction, poor management and an untested coach but Phil Kessel, who is even worse this year then last, which was his worst at that point. Especially after the enormous expectations and Toronto bashing from Pens fans following the trade.

We're not handcuffed. In case you missed it, Dupuis is LTIRed which means we have his cap hit to play with before even considering the salary we could move out in a trade. For which there are multiple options.

Please name these many holes on the Pens roster. They're missing 1 top-4 D, that's basically it.

Coaches are hired to be fired, and Johnston was coaching with that mindset this season.

Wonder how many coaches JR can throw under the bus before he loses his job, two more?

Outside of canning Bylsma (who wasn't his hire), this is his first coaching change.

Sullivan's coaching resume - 1st year turnaround, 1st in the division, upset in the 1st round. Next season, team goes into the dumpster and misses the playoffs. Sounds like a perfect match for this Penguins lineup.
