I think it is more of a anti-New York anti-big city thing. Though to the latter, I don’t really recall the insane amount of hate league wide for another franchise.
I think Toronto gets even more hate than the Rangers though it’s pretty close. Send the hate for the Rangers tends to be more venomous. Hate for Toronto more widespread.

We've scored some nice goals but we've also scored on two high tips, a silly bounce, and a screened wrister in this series. It's nice that we're producing some "ugly" offense in the playoffs. It was one of the downfalls of the old core, because AV could only do rush.

Speaking of AV, I agree with Gallant that we have to tighten it up defensively. We're giving this team way too much respect. We're just watching them skate all the way into our zone before we react. It's shades of McDonagh-Girardi at their worst.

I'm trying to figure out why there is so much hatred towards the Rangers around the league and front office. It's not like they are the Yankees of the NHL, we've only won 4 championships. That would go to Montreal. Is it because the Rangers sued the NHL 15 years ago because of it's website control? You'd think the league would be promoting the Rangers since they play in the largest TV market in the country and there are tons of new possible fans that would start to watch games, etc. if marketed to them. I don't get it. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Too bad the Rangers didn't win that lawsuit. The NHL website is horrendous.

There have been a few really bad lapses.

Lindgren dropped his assignment game one on an even man rush leading to a goal.

Shesty bailed out Fox last night, thankfully Adam was able to get to the rebound attempt. And that's before we talk about the breakaway.

The Crosby line has been murdering us. Gallant really needs to think about how we play that group. Michelletti thinks we should hit them more- maybe- but not falling asleep on defensive assignments would be a nice start.

The Rangers played well yesterday, but made just enough bad mistakes to keep Pitt in it for longer than they should have been. That kind of thing can bite you in the ass if it becomes a habit.

I can kind of see where Joe is coming from. I don't think it's so much about "gotta muh hit gonna bang bodies wear 'em down" but like, engage them before they're 20 feet from Igor.

Still need to.figure out a way to slow down Crosby. I know he is an all time great, but don't remember , Renney, Torts, or Vigneault having this much trouble with him. Of course we had different personal at those times, but Crosby is straight up dominating out there.

He just casually skated past four guys. I hate that ah, but We would all love him to be in a blue shirt.

I’m sure politics and also just F NY has something to do with it. Can’t believe the refs are allowed to act that way too.

The Post-Gazette claims the Pens were tired but don’t bother to mention that their coach ran them through a practice between games. They explain the Pens are short handed…what about the Rangers? Also, “kooky bounce”. They should change the name of that paper to the Pittsburgh Excuse Newspaper.

Rangers always seem to be at odds with the league. In the pre-cap era it was for weilding their financial advantage like a hammer. They fought with the league over control of the team website, Dolan came out of his cocaine fog to blast the NHL publicly after the Wilson incident, etc. Plus my personal belief is that because the league knows that the Rangers will always be a strong financial cornerstone of the league regardless of on ice success, they can promote other teams over the Rangers without any harm, wether that be from a broadcast opinion perspective (pushing the crosby/malkin last kick at a cup run) all the way down to unfavorable reffing.

Now I understand their shitty fanbase a little better.

Tough for me to watch playoff hockey. My heart feels like it's in my throat the entire time.

Thoughts: First line was better last night. Still need more from Chris and Mika, but I think we'll get it. Nice to see Frank the tank with a big game. Sam loves Frank the tank.

Second line. Strome with another excellent game. Copp and Panarin maybe fighting injuries but still contributing.

Third line. Felt like they weren't as good as game 1. I think they're the X factor in this series. If they can contribute some goals in this series that would be huge. Every minute of playoff hockey they get to play is valuable in the long term development for them.

4th line. Reaves has been a difference maker. Hunt is good in his role. Rooney still needs to elevate his game to me.

On D. Foxy and KAM were great. Trouba had some good moments and some lapses. I liked Brauns game. Schneider seemed steadier in this game than he was in game 1.

I don't watch the national broadcast. Eddie O is a degenerate gambler anyway. Eff him sideways.

Is it just me or does Michelletti seem much more insightful in the playoffs. Regular season he's just a broken record of "this team is really skating", or, "they're a hard working club", or "they're too unselfish" but in the post-season he seems to actually have some interesting analysis throughout the game.

Lets hope that as we get into games 3 and 4 the triple OT plus the heaviness of the Rangers lingers on the old legs of the shorthanded pens. Sure seems like they are stuck starting their 3rd stringer for the near future.

Week to week on Goodrow sure sounds like a broken knee from blocking a shot. If so, hopefully it's a non-displaced fracture and we see him back within a few weeks. Just my wild guess based on the coach's "week to week, lower body" report and the nasty block in game one.

I wonder when coach Gallant eventually realized that the final score was 5-2. Love that guy.

It takes a lot of energy to cover for Sam's blindness during the regular season.

Would love the talent but not the person.

Been sayin this ALL SERIES (yes just 2 games but still... stop giving away the blue line and backing in constantly)

Ugh, the national broadcast. It's so obvious these guys in the studio and Eddie O don't watch the Rangers. I forget now but someone was commenting on the Pens breakaway and how they'll go to school on Shesterkin, how he comes way out so next time they'll put a move on and go around when he reacts. Anyone who's watch the Rangers knows Shesty will stare them down like a steely-eyed assassin and NOT go for the early moves.

I like Igor's respose to all the shots in the games. Something about how he faces that many in practice, so no big deal.

Plus, Toronto has city envy. Left untreated, the NHL brass will suffer from it terminally.

Valuable experience being taught to our youngsters….they should get better as the series goes on….they looked good tonight
Thought that 5 1/4 period 1st game taught them that. Play BETTER so you don't have to play all that extra time.
1st game was exhausting for obvious reasons.
This game was even more, because we HAD TO win and took it's toll
