In the last two seasons and playoffs, the Sharks have played 74 total games at home.

They are an impressive 53-11-10 in those games. Only three visiting teams have multiple victories at SAP center (LA, NSH & PHX) but only one of those teams has beaten them 3 times at home and all in regulation. And that's the Kings.

In fact, in those 3 regulation wins (2 of which obviously in the playoffs) the Sharks have scored a grand total of one goal (last night's goal) in 180 minutes.

Not disrespecting the Sharks...They're a hell of a team, they've actually beaten the Kings more than anyone else at home in that span, including 5 times in the playoffs. It actually says a lot when the team that plays you the toughest at home in a 74-game span is 3-6-3 against you in those games. Kudos to the Sharks, the Kings are just better when it counts.

what a team . 2 of our most talented in Gaborik and Carter were fairly quiet and these are those rare types who can win you a game like this with a moment of individual brilliance. The team was great tonight. Mike Richards was on fire - the first ten minutes he was in everything and set the tone for the game. Then his crucial block at the end. Unlucky not to score as well. Muzzin was fantastic. Amazing to think Drew, Slava , Martinez and Muzzin will only keep getting better for years yet. Kopitar and Toffoli with brilliant finishes. Big raps also to Lewis and Stoll who are relentless - great at hounding the opposition on the penalty kill and when we rest our scorers

That's the beauty of the construction of this team, though--people can alternate stepping up and will shine in different situations. Gaborik is going to be absolutely invaluable if we get to play the Blackhawks (and may be vs. the Ducks since they haven't seen him yet), and him and Carter's speed has changed the dynamic of the offense. Hell, even if they're just expensive decoys, it's working :P

Also, this guy is matchup proof:

@EliasSports: Anze Kopitar was 1st to register pts in all 7 games of a playoff series since Pavel Datsyuk in 2011, 2nd round.

The man. But his biggest tests are coming up--can he not just erase Getzlaf/Perry but control play while they're out there?

this definitely showcases how dominate they have actually ben at HP/SAP

Many teams have that player who elevates their game and can change a series. The best thing about this team is we have a handful of those players.

Drew Doughty - playing like the best defenseman on the planet and was a point per game player in this series.
Anze Kopitar - best two way center in the league and scored 10 points in 7 games.
Jonathan Quick - posts a .965 save percentage in four consecutive elimination games and a .975 in game 7.

Everyone on this team has elevated their play to an all-time high. Especially Muzzin! So happy for the guy. He was absolute MONEY in this series. I never doubted the heart of this team once and it showed up over the last four games.

Yeah, Muzzin's been great. For some reason he seems to alternate between great and awful but he's been real solid for months now. Very happy to see it.

JEEZ, this thread was at 12 pages when i started, and it was at 14 by the time i finished. now that i've collected my quotables (and oh, there were so many candidates), i can start my own post:

where's that Bernstein qack now "oh the better team is up 3-0" what a tool :shakehead

i unfollowed this hack after he posted that - i was so pissed off. i had already been told by several people that he was an idiot, but i was trying to get as much hockey on my feed as possible. nevermore.

A pure state of shock. Unbelievable. Need to celebrate.

yes!! unlike some others (RP, who i see is home today ) i somehow managed to keep the beer in the fridge after we won. i might uncap some this weekend when we play the sucks.

Toffoli's goal was pure natural born talent.

just incredible. and god, how amazing that must have felt. those kids are so young, too. i have shivers just thinking about what that experience must be like.

I have purposely not been posting in any series related threads because of superstition because the Kings were winning! Now that the series is over, I can get my yayas in before I have to stop posting in the round 2 threads. It's a sacrifice, but I gotta do what I gotta do.

i have (inconsistently) been not posting for that reason as well. had to take a moment to celebrate now, too. totally crazy to actually put any stock in it obviously, and it hasn't only been for that reason (been a bit busy, as well), but it definitely entered my mind.

Anze Kopitar now tied for the league lead in points!

freakin' beast mode, i swear to god. he was AMAZING in 6 and 7.

love this so much. saw the original after we won game 4, and had a chuckle. now it's much more.

Remember that scrub a bunch of people wanted to sit? Yeah, well he posted a .965 save percentage in four consecutive elimination games and a .975 tonight with 39 of 40 saves. Best goalie on the planet.

without a doubt. wow. love him to death.

----
and now, my OC:

wow. just wow. was seriously worried after game 3, cautiously optimistic after games 4 and 5. watched game 6 with my wife, dad, and aunt, and we were just elated afterward. last night was a dream. i had trouble getting to sleep, too. so excited that we pulled that off. posted on facebook immediately with a status that just said, "I LOVE YOU LOS ANGELES KINGS." and i do. :yo:

beat the sucks!!

Seeing all this fallout makes me feel bad for Sharks fans. I would be drinking myself silly if I were them right now...

I still can't process what the boys did last night. I get goosebumps just thinking about it...I'm going to have goosebumps all day, lol.

I'm going to head down to MB later today to really soak in the vibe. We are living the the golden years, guys. After all that pain from the past, we're finally here!!!

There are few hockey fans who understand how you guys feel today, but we do. It's amazing - congratulations!!

One of the things that was said at the end of the Flyers game 7 comeback was "remember this night, remember this feeling". I'm betting you all will.

The one thing that came to mind was Craig Simpson on CBC after the unbelievable PK (game 6) saying "if the Kings do come back and win this series, remember this PK". He was right.

Absolutely, 5 on 3 for about 1:30, and another PP for 2:00 shortly their after in a 1-goal game (although they scored ES shortly their after), huge moments in the series.

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Honestly, as much as I hate that rat face I respect the hell out of this quote. Now that's the kind of attitude you want from a captain.

Trading Thornton/Marleau may not be an option, but perhaps moving the captaincy to a kid like Couture would really send a message and begin a culture change up there.

I also think it's time to get rid of TMac. Guy is just consistently out coached in seven game series.

Full quote from Logan Couture.

Couture said the Sharks lost to a better team, one that showed more grit and resolve than San Jose.

"They're a great hockey team over there," Couture said. "They've got a great lineup, one line through four, one D-man through seven, and in my mind the best goaltender in the world. They're no pushover over there. It's just so disappointing that we were able to go up 3-0 and not find a way to have that killer instinct, to find a way to scrape and claw and win games like they did. It's tough saying it, but I think the better team won the series. They were better than us. We lost four games. It's tough."

Couture should be captain next season for the Sharks.

Williams against the Sharks is like Deadmarsh against the Wings.

You have to feel for a guy like Thornton when you see the anguish in his eyes, whatever you think of him as a player. 35 when next season starts. 1207 regular season games, 132 playoff games. That's just a lot of time.

Also, side note, I'm not trying to rub it in to Sharks fans, but now I can enjoy a good laugh at the expense of the guys who were saying there was no clear goaltending advantage because Neimi's and Quick's save percentages were similar.
