Trocheck, in his first ten games on the 3rd line had 4 points. In 16 games on the 2nd line with Chytil going down, 21 points.
As big a fan of Troch that I am, when the season started it made "sense" uthat Troch would be on the 3rd line, only because we were hoping that Filip would make major strides on the 2nd line. Troch being part of a shutdown 3rd. With the 4th line providing that, when Filip DOES come back......he needs to be on the 3rd. Troch has earned it in every way possible. Can't minimize his expertise at the dot, priceless!
Force CHYTIL to elevate, if he wants it that badly. Win, win situation.

Having the "Dont sign Igor" convo a year and a half before its needed because a 37 year old Jon Quick has gotten off to a good start is laughably premature. And thats not to take anything away from Quick, who has been awesome. They should go 60/40 the rest of the season, but Igor is the starter in Game 1.

Another benefit is Laviolette's ability to go Quick in a series if things go sideways, not that I ever want that to happen to Igor but is a great card to play if you need it.
Totally agree, as I DID NOT have any part of saying NOT to sign Shesty, but they need to be careful with it. Shesty DOES get Game 1, but he had better give Lavy no reason to even think about starting Quickie in Game 2.

Lots of buy-in on Brodzinski stock now. Shows you how good the depth is when healthy. If Rangers can get Chytil back in the not too distant future, assuming both he and Kaapo are good to go come late April, early May, it'll make for some extremely tough decisions for Lavi and his staff. Say what you want about Goodrow, but that fourth line has now been tasked with Boston's top line and LA's and they've been fantastic. Is it as simple as a Pitlick/Bonino as 12F come playoffs? If Chytil comes back soon, I'd love to see Cuylle-Chytil-Brodzinski together.
Can they sit Wheeler? He's really the guy who offers the least to be honest.

I'm having the Shesty convo not because of Quick but because of Shestyerkin. We already did the elite big contract goaltender for a decade. Even if he is mediocre until his next contract, do we really think he'll come cheap? I would trade him for a nice package in a heartbeat and roll the dice on goaltending. This org. has proven consistently it can do more with less when it comes to goalies. At this point how do you not consider it a skill rather than luck? IDK I'm fine if they end up rolling with Shestyerkin, but I would also be behind moving him and trying to win with a cost effective tandem. My only real argument against it is that giving them the capspace to improve D/F could be wasted on trash. Drury has been pretty good so far with not handing out millions to garbage. Goodrow is the exception, awful signing.

Also good for JBrodz, he may not stick around but I always route for the fringe guys who make themselves useful and carve out an NHL role. Was a big JAM fan while he was here.

I loved everything about that game. Didn’t cheat for offense. Stayed in our structure and waited for our chances to come. Very polished performance

The downside

Wheeler is not an nhler at this point. I mean not at all. He is struggling to keep up badly.

We are missing chytil of course and we’re missing the GOOD kakko. The 40 pt two way kakko. Forget the dream of the jump. Just that solid middle six kakko. Not the fraud we saw this season. Those are three really big holes we need to figure out

Fox is not himself and it may take him some time to get his legs back underneath him. Sure enough lindgren sucks if Fox isn’t carrying him. That should be a major red flag.

Laviolette sees the writing on the wall with Wheeler. Starts on the top line but doesnt play specials or in crunch time.

shesty starts game 1 of the playoffs unless his leg falls off

also you cant trade him, goalies have zero value in trades. not to mention its laughable to think he wont get back to being a top 5 goalie at some point this season

everyone needs to chill out, im happy that quick has played well this year....but to insinuate that he should start playoff games is mind numbing

Try him at wing to fill that RW hole. Chytil can be the puck carrier and let Mika live his dream of finding open space not near anyone else for 1 timers.
I’m dying laughing at that^

Although I don’t understand why people are desperate to put Chytil at RW. Not only is he infinitely better as a C but they need to push Bonino as low in the lineup as possible, ideally out of the lineup never to be seen again
You could see the play with Brodzinski happening as he moved towards the high slot. Smart play by him and good read by Trocheck to get it to him. That was a good win against a really good team and one of our best efforts in a while.
Yeah that was a great read. Not easy to work in on PP1 right now in their weird bumperless setup

That was a very satisfying win and like I said on sat if we had to chose only one win, I Choose you Pikachu! Aka Quick beating his old team.

Hopefully the negativity backs down and not to sound like a jerk but some of you are overreacting a little. The team is not going to win every game and when they get a win like this it makes up for the losses.

Quick remembered when they sent him to Columbus.

Johnny the Body with 6 points in 5 games lol.
Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for giving Quick a puncher's chance at taking the all-time wins record for an American-born goaltender. It's fitting that it's for the team he grew up rooting for and that his idol (Richter) played for given that it's not happening in LA.

Also, yeah, ex-Kings really twisted the knife on us yesterday. We had such high hopes for Brodzinski years back with a barren prospect pool. It would be a crazy-late emergence a la Bunting or Moore to see this success continue.

Do you have a crusade against Bonino and Goodrow? Vesey's goal was all Bonino's work, but don't let that cloud your judgment.

I usually don’t let singular plays swing my entire judgement of a player, gotta look at the body of work. Reaves and Cody McLeod make a nice play too once in a blue moon

This organization went from Richter to complete crap until Hank arrived. Now we are all spoiled going from Hank to Shesty. Would I give Igor a blank check? No. But if he wants a reasonable deal, say $6-7m, I'd consider that. Above $7m and I'm out.
He's not going to sign for $6-7mil lol. Absolutely not. Look at what some of these goalies are getting in free agency. There's always going to be a team that's going to need a goalie, and is willing to spend. A team looking for a goalie would be delighted to give him +9mil.

Fair enough, it was one play. But he's fine for our bottom 6. Should he be on the 4th line? Yes. But don't blame him. Don't point at him for Kakko being unable to do anything. If even Vesey can find the net playing with Bonino, Kakko should sure as hell too. And blame Chytil for being made of porcelain and not knowing how to protect himself. It wasn't the first time he collided with someone completely oblivious to his surroundings. Bonino would be centering the fourth line and we wouldn't Goodrow having to play center.

Theyve had Chytil as a C some astronomical amount of his career, they havent tried him at wing for any real period of time.

The question was what to do with Brodz when everyone is healthy because he doesn't deserve to be demoted and I think at his best he'd make a really good speedy tryhard 3C. And then it's "but what about Chytil and there you go.

There's no way Shesterkin gets anything less than Sorokin (or other recent goalies of this statute contracts). Prepare yourself for at least $8.5m for 8 years.
