Not surprising that he's not making the trip. No use pushing him after what he's been through.

My guess is Weise slots in. Julien may opt for the bigger body against a team like Columbus.

Peca would be my next guess. He has similar speed to Byron, but he's much more limited hockey player than Byron.

Peca is my guess too. As you said, he's similar to Byron speed wise. But he's not quite as good of a player. But he can slide into Byron's spot on the PK a lot easier then the others that have been listed.

Our record without him this season is bad isn't it?

Pretty dumb decision to fight that plug.

Ahh, the code...the game has changed, the code also needs to change. Byron is what 50lbs lighter than this guy?? Why would Weager even go there?? Byron got 3 games, and even went to the point, of apologizing to the guy, knowing he did not mean to concuss the guy back in January.

He could be out until next season??

Wonder is anyone of those 2 or management will speak about this.... I'm saying 'incident' .. because it's not 'just a fight here' ...

A fight is when, in the heat of the moment, 2 belligerent drop gloves and go at it.... This... This was orchestrated... and I thought that they were putting measures in to stop these.. ie, that one game in 2011-12 between the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers where all players dropped gloves before the puck drop..

Anyway... Byron, being a 'nice' guy, did this and now we need to move on. :puppy:

Let's hope he is going to be OK.

I can tell you this, Byron grew a foot taller last night, in the room. They will have this guys back going forward, forever, and hopefully they can use his injury as a rallying point to win out the schedule!!

Hope it's not something long term. Dude is still having a great season all told. Five points behind last seasons totals with 28 games less played, probably would have set career highs if not get the injuries and suspension.

They sure didnt have his back last night. I did not see all of it but did anyone even challenge the guy that caved in Byron? The assault was pretty early. Everyone saw the ref practically carry him off the ice. Anyone at all ? Step up?

why would they need to fight him? the 2 points were far more important than focusing on retaliation

This would be my order:

1. Peca: Byron speed without the offense + can play PK

2. Deslaurier: Big and heavy hits for the BJs + slow and bad/average on everything else.

The Byron/Weegar issue has been resolved now. That's why Byron fought him in the first place. He didn't plan on getting his bell rung but now it's time to move on from it. Hopefully Byron is not seriously hurt or his career is in jeopardy. I'm sure Weegar feels the same.

We don't need the police or ref's. This one was settled and no need to retaliate any further. That's why some people want hockey fights to stay. Disputes and retaliation don't drag on.

The « code »!!??? Why Ekblad didnt ask Domi to fight after he broke is nose with a sucker punch, a cheAp shot alot worst then Byron’s hit!!!!??? Yeah, the code apply when the guy is a non fighter weighing 150lbs, im sure that if D-Lo or Weber would have gave that hit instead of Byron he wouldnt ask for a revenge fight freakIng phoney!!!

True, as a group, at that point no one did stand up, and it was kinda strange. That being said, the code has a strange way of affecting a guy's mind. Did the team think, that Byron did need to take of this himself? No matter what, pretty soon fighting will be banned.

Yeah, me too, I think this needs to be talk about. What the point to have suspension in the first place, to help prevent concussions, if players are going to take justice into there hands the next game and maybe one player gets hurts again? Byron is not a dangerous player, and he showed remorse after. What he did was to not be careful for his opponent, and he injured him. That needs to be punish. Players need to be careful with their stick, but also their hits. But what Weager did yesterday, was dangerous, and pointless. Weager punished Byron, even if he did time for it. He knew the difference in weight between them, and still was going for the KO. He was punching with intention. Guys have this stupid fantasy in their head about taking revenge with their fists, dreaming about a "cute" KO, where the other guy fall, see birds for 3 seconds, gets up, lesson learn, you win. But punching someone's head with you bare hands is dangerous. And it's even more dangerous if you have a major weight advantage and the other guy is not use to get punched. Weager should have tought about this. After the fight, we saw him. He was feeling bad. He didn't think he was going to hurt him that way. But it can happen. And it happened.

Players need to rethink the old way of "punish by punching". It doesn't prevent injuries. Look at all those tough guys from previous eras like the 80s and 90s. Did "punish by punching" prevent them from getting hurt? Some of them are the worst victims of the game. They deal with terrible mental issues. And there where still dangerous hits back then. Players need to be better and be careful. I know there will always be dangerous hits, and in the action, fights will happen. But I still think they both need to go. Punching, bare hands. someone's head his stupid.

If you haven't seen it, it's a story about Joe Murphy. It's very sad. I know he got injured from a hit and not from a fight. But it's only to show what can happen when you mess with somebody's brain.

Timing sucks and hope Byron is back soon but if roles were reversed we’d be high-fiving that our guy got payback for a cheap shot that knocked him out of the lineup, the fact the league suspended him means little to the other player when he wants revenge
