Hartford on their 4th PK of the night on a Berard tripping penalty. At least Garand has looked pretty good.

Rempe made a beautiful play at the end of this PK - Broke up a pass and controlled the puck, skated up ice with Blidh 2 on 1, and made a nice pass to Blidh who got a good shot on net. Hartford's got a big boost and good follow-up shift from that.

Wtf is wrong with Berard? 1 point in the last 8 games? What a disappointment this season. Crazy how people thought he would be pushing for a spot with the NYR roster.
I know I’m biased towards Berard but new couch, new system and many new players with few quality centers.
Last year started with Brozinski, Nash and Karl Henriksson.
It not from lack of effort. He’s still driving play.

Roobroeck handles the puck like it's weapons-grade plutonium when he's pressured. Very frantic/rushed. Still 1-1 going into the 3rd, shots are 15-23 Hartford to Providence. All the penalties have made it hard for Hartford to mount any sustained offense, and even when they are at full strength they still haven't sustained much outside of a handful of good shifts. Rempe has looked equal parts good and bad tonight. He had some really good plays on the PK and was netfront in the PP with some good chances there as well, but also ended up stickless in the defensive zone for a good stretch of time, overskated an easy puck on a breakout, and made some general defensive mistakes. Providence has moved the puck well on their PP, but Garand is locked in and Hartford is playing well enough defensively.

Scanlin had a rough 1st period. With the Hillman goal, that makes the last five goals by Hartford scored by defensemen. Could be more, I don’t recall who scored the last goal in Wednesday’s game.

Hartford on the PK yet again on another tripping penalty on Mackey 1 minute into the 3rd. Belzile with good battle on the PK faceoff to get puck out of the zone. Fitzgerald scores on a feed from Sykora that started with Rempe.

And Hartford with another to go up 3-1 - Berard with a beautiful rush starting from Hartford's goal line and gets around a Providence defender, gets low in Prov's zone and passes high to Mackey who fires one home. Think they said that's 7 straight goals by defensemen for Hartford.

Another defenseman with a goal. Fitzgerald, 2-1 Pack.
Anyone know if Ben Harpur is injured? Healthy scratch?
And yet another defensemen gone. Connor Mackey.
Last seven goals by Hartford have been by d-men. Just announced on air.

Hartford really started coming on during the middle of the 2nd tonight. They've played well defensively in the 3rd. Good sticks and good puck control. Scanlin got bodied at Prov's blueline that almost lead to a good chance against, but I think it was Korczak or Robertson that broke it up. Blidh took a hit that lead to a PP. Mancini didn't look good on this one, too many misplays/whiffs but has otherwise looked good tonight. Rempe with another great chance - poked the puck free from a Prov player trying to break out at the redline, drove to the net and received a pass that he almost jammed home.

Garand lets in a bad goal on a netline-angle toss in front.

Hartford gets it literally right back on a goal by none other than the golden child Matt Rempe - He waltzes in 2 on 1 and just fires one in.

Hartford wins 4-2.

He could have done something later like take out of their better players with a clean hit.

Rempe isn't shy about hitting opposing players. That's not even an issue. He's going to do that when the opportunity presents itself anyway.

Sourdif is not some kind of tough guy and a lot smaller than Rempe. Berard wasn't hurt at all. The Pack were winning late. No point doing anything that could potentially give them a power play. Pretty much a nothing play all in all and Rempe even trying to fight Sourdif would be ridiculous.
