The Byron/Weegar issue has been resolved now.
Yeah... NOW it's resolved. The three game suspension didn't do this already I guess.

And if this is how things are then why is it resolved now? Shouldn't somebody now go out and run Weegar's head into a stantion or something? After all, we need to show that we won't be pushed around right? I guess somebody should just go and decapitate the guy.

Was going to be hard enough to win and now we don't have Byron. What a f***ing waste.

True, as a group, at that point no one did stand up, and it was kinda strange. That being said, the code has a strange way of affecting a guy's mind. Did the team think, that Byron did need to take of this himself? No matter what, pretty soon fighting will be banned.
Well last night as far as the Canadiens go. It already is.

why would they need to fight him? the 2 points were far more important than focusing on retaliation
Ya know. Stepping up can come later. When you punch the living shit out a small guy who does not normally fight....... Its not against the law to to tell that guy " you gotta go me now"

and btw Retribution and the 2 pts can be had by the same team.

Are you new ?

I don't have an issue with the suspension.

I'd just like to see how the league is going to react when a similar hit is made by a Sydney Crosby instead of a Paul Byron.
Ovechkin has already been let off numerous times in his career.

Crosby to my knowledge has never thrown one like Byrons.

They sure didnt have his back last night. I did not see all of it but did anyone even challenge the guy that caved in Byron? The assault was pretty early. Everyone saw the ref practically carry him off the ice. Anyone at all ? Step up?

Absolutely not, then again who on this team is capable of stepping up? Domi is most capable but once again would have the size disadvantage, so really no one else.

I thought Weber should have.

But you are correct. Habs have been one of the softest teams in the NHL for years.

I recall when Chara practically killed Patches. Habs played the rest of the night like it never happened.

Have seen Krieder run Price out of the play offs. . Ragdoll Subban.....then laugh at the bench. Without a challenge.

Nothing new here.

My guess is Weise slots in. Julien may opt for the bigger body against a team like Columbus.

Peca would be my next guess. He has similar speed to Byron, but he's much more limited hockey player than Byron.
Weise. :biglaugh::biglaugh: You'll have to excuse me. Forgot the Habs had him back....and it still cracks me up.

The three game suspension does not do anything for Weegars head. He got his bell rung and had a concussion from a dirty hit to the head. He challenged Byron. Byron obliged. No Canadien stepped in. No Canadien acted as if anything had been done wrong. They played on like nothing happened.
Too bad Byrons teammates were not as upset during the rest of the game as some of his fans.

We've been the receiving end of violent infractions way too many times and often without a response , which can be demoralizing as well as embarrassing.

Weber has only had a couple of fights past 3 seasons, it would have been nice to see the captain step up, but he's getting older and understand he'll be putting his health at risk.

I was hoping D'Lo could have had a bigger role with the team , but that hasn't work out too well.

If Im Columbus I play a very physical game Thursday night.

Didnt Domi fight Foligno last time they met?

Makes me laugh that little Max Domi walks into the Habs dressing room this year and immediately becomes their best player and their toughest player .

Thats one poorly built hockey team.

It's surprising the Habs continue to be one of the softest teams with Julien coaching, he seemed to relish and encourage the tough $hit when he was
with the Bruins but then again they had the players capable of following through.

Remember McCarron on Zednic.

Emelin took a run at Seguin one night and just missed. Chara came over, immediately filled in Emelin just for trying to lay out the rookie.

Lucic used to use Komeserik for a punching bag.

I miss players like Corson, MacPhee, Chelios, Scrudland, Keane, Odeline, . Band of brothers they were. Fight one, and fight us all !

Habs aren't making the play offs.

D Lo was, but I assume the Code required him to fight some plug in preseason. He likely regrets that fight more than Byron does his.

I remember all of those, my hate for the Bruins grew with each assault.

But risking another injury to go have a fight does?

If the league banned fighting this nonsense never would've happened. Players wouldn't feel 'obliged' to have these stupid little standoffs.

Mentioned it last night, Phil Esposito said that it was a rule in the Bruins room that everyone had to fight at least once. He hated it but he did it.

Instigator rule was great. Now they need to remove the fig leaf and just get it over with already.

Weber is going to catch Weegar in traffic or beat his ass like the bitch he is next year. Book it. I’d take the ass beating over a full force clean check by Weber if I had the choice. Either way, Weegar knows it is coming.

You must forget Laraque making Lucic yellow his shorts.

It's a 6-1 game. C'mon guys. Back up your little teamate a little. God hockey has gone soft.

I did forget about Laraque chasing Lucic , but I don't recall Lucic paying any price, unlike all those Habs who paid dearly at the hands of the dirty Bruins.
Again who's going to back up Byron after the damage is done?

I hope you are right, but I'll believe it when I see it.

How many hits like that has he thrown this year?

And Cooke paid no price when he ended Savard’s career.

Yes but until they do you have to build your team and play accordingly.

750 players. You cant just expects them all to play by the rules every shift of every game. Because thats the "smart thing to do"

Shit like last night is going to happen. Its a choice to always be on the receiving end. Just saying.

Ill add this. Caps win f*** all last spring without the wreckless suspended play of Tom Wilson.
