Not really that far off. Two of those years were 97 and 98 points. Columbus finished with 92 points this season.
Far off in the sense that those teams don't have much in common with the current line up of players. I know the tragedy of Johnny Hockey set them back a lot in recent times though.

Eh, a couple young players had rough years last season because they didn’t condition very well in the offseason, but they were on a good trajectory before that.

InsideLaineBOOM is pretty obviously ragebaiting / trolling at this point, why take the bait? It's just making Columbus fans seem more salty, the bait seems to work.
Yeah it's obviously a parody account and the schtick isn't even that clever.

Not sure if it was the same guy, but the best Laine parody account was the guy who called himself Avgaard the hockey professor. That guy's fake broken English and how he called Ehlers Laine's 'Atari friend' was some funny stuff.

I believe Avgaard was a serious poster. He had very good points/thougts, similar to Mulletman in his prime.

You can't blame all your problems on Laine.
Believe me: some people here do. Didn't get a loan for your dream house? It's due to Laine. Didn't get that first girlfriend in life? Laine's fault. Didnt win a Stanley Cup? It's on Laine.

But they don't realize this:
- take Laine with you to the bank: you will get the loan
- get Laine to ask your dream girl out for you: she will say yes yes yes
- play Laine in the playoffs: you win Stanley Cup.

Yeah not really interested in the perspective of someone who unironically believes Laine is going to be an effective 5 on 5 player next season, wild to have watched someone's entire career and have such a poor read on their abilities 🤣

Clairvoyance never came to me as a skill but I'm happy for you that you know the future. Just wondering why you haven't used that ability for something more productive.

Laine was an excellent 5 on 5 player in Columbus when he was healthy. In MTL he played with injuries, with 3rd/4th lines that were extremely unproductive without him too. In 4 nations he played with good players and suddenly worked just fine 5 on 5. Funny how it goes, circumstances affect outcomes.

So expecting him to be an effective 5 on 5 player is the rational default. If he is healthy.

I'm not expecting anything of him if his streak of injuries keeps on going. But if he's healthy, he's very good.

It's wild to not have watched someone much at all and formed an opinion on hearsay from forums and forming a full blown opinion on the past and future of a player based on that BS.

He was slow and out of shape when he last played.

He will likely be in much worse shape in October.

He had a sports hernia that required surgery, last time he played.

He has had that surgery and recovered from it. I don't know by what logic would you expect it to have gotten worse?

What's his Fortnite stats?

Not going to lie, I thought he was going to be the best thing since sliced bread.

Bought the jersey, he was special those first couple years in WPG but man what could have been if we had a Keller or Tkachuk.

Rumours on Patty's next destination are heating up. He is apparently receiving offers to his office from left and right.

"We start the bidding from 1 million, who offers 2?"
"WOW the gentleman in the corner offers 4 million, more offers?"
"Gillian, we have a confirmed bid via phone, it's 7 million"
"Thank you Tracy! Oh and I see a new offer now, 9 million!"
"Guys, stop the bidding, we have an undisclosed and secret bid with 8 figures, and it's closer to 15 than 10, Patty has accepted it, stating: " I wanna leave some money for other players as well, no matter how good I am I can't win the Stanley Cup alone, although it would be close""

Some offensively starved team will sign him, run him as a PP specialist and find value in him. He’s not as bad as people say he is. His health is his biggest concern but he’s still one of the game’s best shooters

That's pretty much all he has left.

He's an ok passer.

Cant skate

Cant hit

Cant play defense

Isnt fast enough to be really effecrive 5 on 5

He's also weak as f***, too

Nobody in their right mind thinks/expects Laine to be very good if he’s healthy

The last time he’s been a quality player was years ago and lot of water has run since

The realistic expectation is weak to average at 5on5, could be elite on the powerplay

Biggest problem is that Laine needs a quality C to hide his weaknesses yet no good team should plan to play Laine with their good C and saddle him

I thought it was because of the esti d'anglos.

With how Vegas's PP faltered during the finals, they could use a sniper like Laine on a 1x1 or something. Not sure how Vegas fans feel about this though.

I think you two things are true. He struggles with mental health, and he’s a rude person.
I took my nephews and my sister to the annual STH dinner and stood in line for Laine. Guy didn’t smile or look anyone in the eye or acknowledge any fans

I just cant see a team with cup aspirations wanting to waste even a 4th line spot on him.

I think he ends up on a fundamentally unserious team. Seattle, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Edmonton, Detroit, LA are the ones who come to mind.
