Value of: Patrik Laine

The Ducks PP is so embarrassingly bad that I honestly wouldn’t mind adding Laine if all he does is improve it.

Wouldn’t pay nearly anything for him, though.
I doubt Habs expect much of anything. A bad contract (ie, overpaid NHLer) would be plenty.

Just let his contract play out.

He played in only 18 games last year and missed the first 30 or so games this year. With a knee injury you can’t be skating and staying in game shape.

Next year he will be in his contract year and Demidov is coming over. I expect him to be playing second line which will be a big upgrade over Newhook’s 17 points in 55 games. If Dach keeps on improving and has a good summer because of his own knee injury then the Habs could have a good offensive second line next year.

Laine - Dach - Demidov

Now that line will not be good at all defensively but it would give Laine a much better passer to play with.

So - there’s definitely been a lot of discussion and opinions on Laine, no one has really weighed in on the thread question though, lol.

What is laines trade value at the deadline?

Is it even positive after his scoring resurgence?

Does Montreal need to retain? If so, how much?

I truly feel he needs to get off the habs yesterday for fear he will ruin their progression. Throw him on a vet heavy team, where he is way down the pecking order of influence.

Canucks are looking to add mid 20s impact forward apparently. This seems like a nice match.
Also canes are still looking to add. And they have a giant gap at wing since trading away Necas.

How about being bipolar...

Habs would have to pay to get rid of him and according to their actual situation, it isn't really something that is worth it.

So the team will keep him, hoping he gets his play on track and have a good one next season (UFA year).
