Crazy to think that some people don't want him for 6 more years. Only 1 year older than Suzuki. He have great shape mentality.

Koivu died?Laine just tied the late Saku Koivu in career powerplay goals with his 79th powerplay goal. 11.4 % of those powerplay goals have come in his last 14 games. Oh man one can only wonder were Laine would be if Columbus hadn't ruined him and Winnipeg hadn't sandbagged him. Could've been generational on the powerplay...
It's Mulletman, if you don't play hockey on a professional level you're dead to him.Koivu died?
I agree. To me this sounds like a plausible scenario. It will also give Laine personally a chance to gun for the Rocket and for the Cup. Its a win-win for Montreal as well. The best case scenario is happening. We received Laine basically for free. He get back to his super star player level. He fall in love with the city and his fans. After what he went thru, now he prioritize his happiness over the big money. Next season he accept to sign a new contract with us for a very fair amount. We end up with 2 players in the top 10 snipers of the league with him and Caufield.

The only thing that happens imo is... Which your did not specify.. is that the next contract extension will be short (and cheapish), as he bets on himself BIG and sets him up for a HUGE contract extension from age 28/29.
That would be the best for the Habs but would Laine and his agent really do it? It leaves Laine quite vulnerable in terms of signing a new contract after that contract ends.I think we will sign him long term 6-7 years.

And while I 100% agree that Laine will prioritize other things than (only/mostly) money, its hard to make such deals, i.e. deals which one knows are not optimized financially.
Guy looked like he was holding back vomit after scoring the goal.Laine is not even in full game shape IMO.
100%Gotta love the double standard.
Give Dach 40 games to get back in shape.
Blame Laine even strength production although he is almost PPG coming back from LTIR
Yup the minute we see him getting quicker in puck possession the more those moves will result in SOG's. Two or three times he looked like he was in perfect position to let fly but it closed on him before he could react. That WILL change provided he can play games. He has like zero quickness and his line perpetually gets hemmed in their zone…that being said I think he’s great.
Great possession player. Nice hands. Clever playmaker. Showing great back checking. I know he’s not the quickest at his best but I hope and think he’ll improve that area as he gets more reps.
And yeah that generational shot is pretty okay.
You could tell he was still under the weather. The guy wears his heart on his sleeve. He looked like a green sick emoji.funny
he played last night , got a goal,
so much for all the drama that he is broken
I'm prepared to offer 6 yrs x 8M per. Would be pretty sweet if he accepted something like thatI think we will sign him long term 6-7 years.
He is , but he wasn't back in 2022-2023, so this looks more like the result of missing a lots of time due to injuries. Is it just me or is Laine really slow skating wise?
Faster than he looks, his strides cover a lot of iceIs it just me or is Laine really slow skating wise?
His top speed is decreasing every yearIs it just me or is Laine really slow skating wise?
His shift in OT looked really bad.Is it just me or is Laine really slow skating wise?
