He would’ve been on my Team Canada. Bedard as well. Marner would not. He’ll play with Demidov as of next season. That should get him to around 90 points in two years.

I would take Schaiffle before Nick and Connor. He would’ve been on my Team Canada. Bedard as well. Marner would not.
otherwise it becomes a liability... shooter McGavinLaine needs to stay healthy (physically and mentally) for the next 12 months before I would think seriously about extending him at big bucks. The best ability is availability.
I think Laine (for mental health) will be happy to take a blip below Suzuki - this hopefully comes with his Leadership, and guys will want to play with him leading. Two biggest signings coming up next summer/autumn are Laine & Lane
I never realized how elite his shot is. If he stays healthy and he is happy...holy cow
Laine was gradually playing better and better. That line had good stats and played well without the puck, not just against the bottom 6 Caps. But you can still see he's rusty, you'll have to wait some more.
Players like Radulov were good but Laine definitely has a presence on the ice that I haven’t seen since Kovalev. It’s pretty crazy that a talent like that was available as a cap dump but that speaks to some things in his life that he needs to clean up and fix. I’m really rooting for this guy to succeed. Not just on the ice, but off of it as well. He still has a lot of career left if he wants it and his body holds up.So hope he stays healthy this year and next and we get him extended through his peak years at a relative discount because he extends with a desire to be a vet leader on a team moving from rebuild to cup contender...
Guy has the tools to be a top 5 player in the league. The huddles he's crossed thus far have been huge and seem to have sharpened his resolve to make the most of every opportunity. If he gets a few years of health, he could well put up his career peak with us... 40+g & 80+ pts annually for 4-6 years would be a pretty awesome stretch.
A 6 year/8-9M per extension would take him through age 28-33 and if he stayed relatively healthy and productive, could be a huge steal...
One season after Hage? For next year one way or another they need to figure out the 2C
Legit 2C+ full season of Laine+ Demidov completely changes the roster
I'm getting tnat vibe as well. Hope soNot worried in the slightest
He ain't going nowhere
Only question is what the Cap hit is gonna be (could even be under 8.7 too amazingly)
I'm a big body language and demeanor guy
And you can just *see* it with Laine's, it's screaming "yeah.. finally , this is exactly where I want to be, this it, what I was looking for" like he's home now
It really is Kovalev all over again
But Laine can be even better than that honestly
Kovalev was *32* when we got him lol
I think the question is more if the Habs had him longterm in their plans.I'm getting tnat vibe as well. Hope so
Hage wont be a 2C until '26-'27 - next year he should be in the AHL for a full season and get a call up after the TDLOne season after Hage?
Crazy that he is only one year older than Suzuki.
If he's playing well and healthy, you adjust your plans accordinglyI think the question is more if the Habs had him longterm in their plans.
