The delay on something that you fabricated in your mind?
I read it here. Someone wrote that the coach was asked if Laine would play this weekend, and he responded, "is Sunday this weekend"... anyway, was hopeful. Seems he might be playing next game with the Roy send down.

I was much more interested in seeing what Laine could bring at the beginning of the season. At this point, I just want another high pick. Laine will probably help ruin that😉

To be honest, it is probably better for Laine personally to come back to a team that has been struggling rather than a team holding down a playoff spot.

He hasn't played an actual game in a calendar year so it is going to take him time to get up to game speed. With the rest of the team making mistakes non stop, there won't be as much pressure on him if he makes any errors.

I don't have any expectations on total amount of goals for him to score the rest of the year, but my hope is he can develop a bit of chemistry with Dach to help get Dach some confidence and back on track.

Laine didn't stop Columbus picking 6th and 3rd in the draft.

He's not going to be some sort of savior some people in here are expecting, even if he managed to stay near PPG.

Don't trust anything you read here without a source as most of them are misinterpretations, straight out fabrications and conflations.

That is the opposite o what is good for Laine imo.

He needs to enjoy the game and needs to be in a positive environment. Playing in an environment where the most rabid media/fan base in hockey are turning on the team is exactly what he doesn't want or need.

Hopefully he has the tools to survive this as he did not have them previous to his hiatus last season.

Not necessarily no sometimes that fuels a player knowing his team sucks without him and could use his help.

Fans will be on his side regardless. I like this scenario better too. Laine can focus on himself vs trying to win hockey games in high pressure situation

His entire issue was not having fun playing hockey anymore and an inability to cope with the pressure that comes with expectations......this is literally worst case scenario and there is a ton of pressure to win now and it shows on Marty's face. This season had entirely different expectations than previous seasons as was endlessly reiterated at the beginning of camp.

Marty has said that he would be harder on them this season and there is no doubt that his demeanor has changed to match the expectation of progress and "being in the mix". They are failing miserably right now and this a far cry from the strictly developmental approach the was previously used. They is no getting around the fact that the media and fans have been vocal with their dislike for the product this season and are openly criticizing Marty and his capabilities as a coach.

That's true there does seem to be some intensity/pressure to win right now. I heard Gorton punched a wall the other day. Wonder why they haven't made any moves tho....

We'll see, Laine seemed very determined and motivated at start of year. He's hungry to play. And I think fans will give him a huge boost, he's exciting. Finally something to cheer for like when Hutson arrived.

Laine himself should be feeling good for first stretch of games at least. Especially at the Bell.

His entire issue is being a head case. I don't put any stock in this mental health stuff he's been on about. In terms of his physical gifts he was born to replace Teemu Selänne as the Finnish GOAT, but he doesn't have the attitude. He's only ever been good when the game is easy for him. If anything this mental health stuff is going to further impede him achieving his destiny. The second he encounters adversity he's going to retreat into his security blanket again.
