Gunnarsson and Bouwmeester have been passed up in the organization. Blues are set on D for 18-19 and 19-20. Its July 1, 2020 where it will get interesting.

That’s kinda my point, though.
You have a lot of good pieces in their prime and some solid veterans, but a retooling is coming in two years.

My question is “Why not go for it now?”
But the answer I’m getting seems to be you don’t think you’re a player or two away, particularly with your goalie.

I think the Blues are closer than that except for their glaring hole at centre, but apparently I’m wrong.
You’d rather see where you are in two years and make your big moves then.

I am sorry but you as a buff fan have no room to talk. We do just fine missed playoffs once went to wcf recently what have you guys done. You just want to get nice assets for an older #2 center. We respectfully decline

What the hell is this middle school garbage?

A response to your treading water bs.. get over yourself. Ror is not worth what your asking. Keeping our elcs paying our veterans and rfas is working for us. Your take on the blues is noted but incorrect. We don't care what you think We should do. We would like ror but not at your asking price. Have a wonderful evening

Armstrong is basically saying in all of the interviews that he sees the Blues window just starting to crack open, and not that we are in the middle of it now and closing in a year or two. This isn't a case where our skilled players are 32 years old and are starting to decline. Most of the players that you listed are 25-28 year old and can be extended. Army hasn't had any issue extending players that are worth it. I don't worry about that.

This year will be the transition year to get rid of some of the baggage of older players and bring in some of the kids to see how they fare and to set up team needs going forward. Is this a cup contender as is? No, and no one thinks that, but the team has already said this is the beginning of the run, not the twilight prior to a rebuild.

Thanks. Reasonable take.

Is it? The Blues aren't going anywhere. Isn't that the point?

Of course Thomas, has value. It’s about value that fits your best window.

If the Sabres decide to trade O’Reilly it will be to get players closer to Eichel’s age that can be part of the core as Eichel matures.

They were reportedly asking for something similar to the Mike Richards package: a top-end prospect (pre-NHL Brayden Schenn) a good young NHLer (Wayne Simmonds when he was a young 30-point winger) and a second-rounder.

The Kings were willing to sacrifice that because they thought Richards was what their core needed to put them over the top and they were right.

O’Reilly fits in very well with Parayko, Pietrangelo, Tarasenko Schenn and Schwartz. The parallels between Thomas and a young Schenn are obvious.

The secondary pieces shouldn’t be that difficult to balance, if that’s the route Armstrong wants to take. I can see both sides.

Sometimes it’s the trades you make that bring you closer to the cup and sometimes it’s the trades you don’t.

This is an extremely rational train of thought. I don't like it. Regardless, I don't think now is the time we make a Richards-esque all in move with the depth we have in the system at our positions of need. If Husso comes in and plays outstanding, or Jake plays all year consistently like he did vs Minnesota in last years playoffs, then I think that is a better timing for making this sort of trade.

We have about 2-3 holes to fill or at least solidify before we are a legitimate contender. Some/a lot of the pieces are in tact. Then some of the other pieces are so inconsistent that it's hard to completely understand where we are

I don't know how many times we have to say it but I'll do it one more time.

The blues missed out of playoffs by 1 point.
The blues were top 4 in the league for a large portion of the year then the following happened.
1) jaybo was hurt and playing hurt
2) Schwartz broke his ankle foot
3) jake Allen pooed the bed in late December
4) gunner got hurt, Edmondson broke his arm several other injuries to team, fabbri was out of the year
5) several players had bad years.
6) statsny was traded for a pick.

The blues were a force and still can be. Adding thomas, kyrou this year kostin, walman and more in future blues will be fine

Berglund's value is probably a 2nd and an average prospect, or a comparably skilled 30-40 point forward / #4-5 defenseman.

That's what we're still talking about, right? ;)

Some how it got twisted. I think his value would be around that. I think we should keep him move sobotka jaskin, and some of the other dead wait first. I would like Steen to go as well.

I like this deal.
Call you after we pay the 6.5 million bonus to ROR on July 1st.
Just see the Blues giving up Thomas in any deal.
I thought it was to much. I'm very high on kyrou got to see him play a few times kid can really turn it on take over a game.

Value wise yes but just logically for the blues no. and that 2nd offer is atrocious imo, schwartz is better than ROR in my opinion(and that's not a slight to ROR) and hes on a better contract. I don't see a deal here to be made unless it was something like next years 1st, tage thompson++ for ROR which im not sure they would entertain
Was looking back on old posts...I kinda nailed the future ROR trade lmao....boy was i wrong about schwartz versus fROR (in a long term sense hahah)
