Take the 2 wins… great job on another part of a condensed schedule for this group.
- hope Lindgren is ok
-will Cuylle will be a 30 goal scorer by the time he’s 25 if he gets to play with talented linemates…
The kid always seems to go to the right places on the ice, good wheels for how big he is, and a very deceptive shot. Can’t believe we turned Lia’s into this Unicorn
- If laf was on 1 PP he’d have about 70pts right now. His wrister is filthy
- jones looked good again
- hopefully zibby can build on 2 solid efforts
He seems to like scoring against the Islanders. Nice!

Fun little fact, the Rangers are 16-3-1 in their last 20 which is better than their 15-4-1 in their first 20.

The league doesn’t want to talk about them they’ll talk about literally anyone else but them. But this team is deep and very good.

By the way. Mika is heating up. He’s got a winger finally that meshes with his style

Jones is just such a better fit for the roster and for the game that Laviolette wants to play.

Jones-Ruhwadel is a perfectly solid bottom pairing as long as the minutes are sheltered. A Gus-Jones pair worries me in road games.
Yeah I’ve seen a few people suggesting our best lineup has a Jones+Ruhwedel pairing in place of Lindgren+Trouba so I’m interested to see how the next few games go. Jones is already an above average driver of offense at 5v5 which is awesome

The Jones narrative is going to be how well the organization has brought him along but theyve really just been slow as shit to recognize even slightly that he’s worth prioritizing. Jones is way ahead of where Schneider was at 60 NHL games but the leash has always been infinitely shorter because small. It’s wild to me how the front office looked at Schneiders skillset and agreed to hold their nose for 150 games until he got his shit together but needed to waste two playoff runs with Nemeth and Mikkola before Jones could get some burn.

Hey Fellas, sorry have not been around this weekend, had a gig Friday night, and had to move equipment on Sat, and was out with friends today for St. Patricks day. I only had my phone with me, which is difficult to do a game thread. Thank you @FultonReed and @tlk for covering my ass, lol.

Saw the game at the bar, looks like we dominated!

Jones has made me more of a believer than I was earlier this season for sure so props to him.

I know fans have gotten used to hearing Schneiders name but he is still a year Younger than Jones.

I think they will end up being good players in the league

Im glad to be at a point as a Rangers fan where we are a good team and seem like developing guys the right way

You’re fired, pack your shit.

This is interesting....

St Louis beat Boston 5-1 after playing us and have won 4 in a row.
Canes beat the Panthers 4 zip after facing us, and have won 3 in a row.
Devils beat up the Stars 6-2 after facing us.
Bolts beat the Panthers after beating us.
The Pens wiped up Detroit 6-3 after facing us.

You know what this tells me? We are an elite team, and our opponents are just happy to get away to face lesser competition.

How much you wanna bet the Isles beat up on the Canes Tuesday?

Ruh should be a solid partner for jones in the interim, he’s a solid stay at home unremarkable 3rd pair D…
The write up is he doesn’t take chances, always make the simple play and isn’t prone to making gaffes unless he’s playing minutes/situations that are above his head…
This should allow jones to do his thing and feel secure. As far as jones goes, offensively he’s been as advertised for the last 2 seasons.
Defensively he looks a lot better/more comfortable than in the beginning of the year. Hopefully he keeps building confidence and that continues..
The biggest question about him is how he’ll fair when the games get more physical and there’s less open ice in a playoff atmosphere.
Everything, including decision making gets a bit quicker.

Schneider was really solid as a rookie in his 1st playoffs.
He has the size and 1st rd pick pedigree
He’s not a stay at home D
And he’s a year younger.
He’s also a RD.
No coach wants a 3rd pair of 2 rookies/young players tbh….
There were a lot of variables factoring in.
In jones situation, some was bad timing/luck and some was poor/bad defensive and physical play.

If he keeps progressing, it makes Gus walking this offseason not a big deal. Kids play in his own zone and even physically has been night and day from the beginning of the season…
That’s pretty much the dream, all our kids coming up and succeeding…..
I’m also interested in seeing a jones-ruh 3rd pair… looks like they’ll get some games together for a little stretch now….

zibby getting going with Ros/Kreider and Wennberg with Kakko/cuylle can make this team a real handful come playoff time

Imagine where we’d be if we could develop forwards?
Myth.

There is no such thing as a team developing players. They either improve or they don't.

Did the Rangers develop Laf, but didn't develop Kakko?

Did they develop Buch, but not Etem?

Did they ........

as others have brought up, the big concern with jones is against heavy teams and a more physical playoff style hockey. he’s fine against finesse, but he’s been pushed around a lot, and I still worry about that.

I still worry about as well. I dont remember who the the team was earlier this season, maybe the Jets? But Jones was absolutely manhandled that game and exposed much of that concern. I made a post about it after that game, I just dont remember what team it was
