Patrick Roy: This is the team that Lou gave me

Have we seen a public beef between coach and GM like this in recent memory that didn't result in changes? Crazy stuff
While this is pretty rare, "crazy stuff" seems like an overreaction. Knowing Roy's personality, none of this is all that unexpected, and Lou hired him, so he knows him better than most. They will have a chat and that will be it.

Or this beef is going to continue in which case, grab popcorn.

probably one of the rarer cases of good coach, bad team
What makes Roy a good coach exactly? Running Avs with almost the entire core that won the Cup in place into the ground?

I feel it is pretty crazy given the culture in hockey, being this outspoken is rare. But even more than that, in the context of a coach of Lou who is famous for his restrictions on public speaking and media relations makes it even more rare.

I can't recall the last time a coach basically said "what do you want me to do my GM sucks"

Is this serious? You mean a core of 50 point MacKinnon, 30 point Landeskog, Tyson Barrie, and Matt Duchene?

also the comically bad year they had was with Bednar. And they won the cup 6 years after Roy had left.

Pierre Engvall is a 6'5" forward with little talent. Surprising that Roy's not a big fan of the guy, seems right in his wheel house from his time in Colorado.

His time in Colorado was what, 10-12 years ago? His criteria and methods may have changed a bit during that time.

On paper the offense should've been much much better but the dman Roy had to work is just horrible. Here are the dmans Roy had during his tenure with the Avs :
EJ
Barrie
Beauchemin
Guenin
Gormley
Zadorov
Bodnarchuk
Holden
Hejda
Stuart
Redmond
Sarich
Benoit

Holy PTSD makes me wanna puke !

6'5 forward who plays like a 5'3 forward

"Crazy stuff" sounds like an enormous overreaction to these remarks.

I stand by my statement. Tis some pretty insane shenanigans. Like I said, find me another quote of a coach throwing the GM under the bus like that who wasn't fired almost right after?

What do owners see in Lou that makes him stick around for so long lmao.
Owners?

Uncle Lou has NYI fans convinced that Tavares and Barzal are the problem.

Somehow, NYI fans think that their best player is the reason they suck. They don’t seem to care that the best winger that management got their star C is matt moulson, zach parise etc.

Lou doesn't know what it takes to build a winning roster in the modern game.

Roy is a very good coach who gets the most out of his players.

Leadership will need to make a decision on which way they want to go at some point.

For those who had been wondering why Patrick Roy went so long without a NHL job... now you know.

This is the last time a GM gives him a NHL coaching job unless the GM is (miraculously) himself.

This isn't some GM, this is Lou "the Don" Lamarello.

I'd be more worried about waking up with cinderblocks on my feet at the bottom of the ocean.
