Patrick Roy: This is the team that Lou gave me

Some read, “I’m gonna work my ass off for this group of plugs that GM Lou has assembled. They try really hard and work like hell, I owe it to the fans to do my best to get some results with these great guys.”

Call him a cab....

What makes Roy a good coach exactly? Running Avs with almost the entire core that won the Cup in place into the ground?
Huh? Try again. I'm not saying Roy is a great coach, but he sure as heck didn't run the entire Avs cup winning core into the ground. He didn't coach key young pieces such as Rantanen (9 games), Makar, Toews, or Girard. He didn't coach the veterans that helped the Avs win, such as Kadri, Burakovsky, and Nichuskin.

Can't wait for Roy to walk out on his team a couple weeks before Training Camp again.

other than “setting a culture” it seems the majority of Lou’s best moves in the past 15 years are re-signing RFAs he didn’t acquire and signing Trotz.

IMO, Roy is the type of personality that needs to be coach, gm, and president.

Sounds like he is being too honest with the media here, and I've never seen lou get publicly outed like this by his coaches. The man has always had an itchy finger too.

Interesting to see if this builds into something.

Is this serious? Duchene, MacKinnon, O'Reilly, Landeskog is a bad core? The fact that they underperformed to the levels of "50 point MacKinnon" supports the argument Roy is NOT a very good coach. Don't you think the fact that one of his generation's best offensive players could not improve on his rookie season (where he scored 10 points in 7 playoff games) for 3 more years points to the fact that maybe the coach wasn't getting the most out of him?

Especially when this applies pretty much across the board, pretty much everyone on the Avs declined/did not break out under him and his tenure led to O'Reilly and Duchene asking out of town altogether.
Even Zadorov turned out to be a decent defensman that Roy got nothing out of

Lou was a good GM last time Roy was a good goalie.
I'd actually take Roy as a GM in 2024 98 times out of 100 over Lou.
Not that I love Roy's NHL track record, but the Remparts are not exactly candy.
Lou is a joke. Shave your beard. I won a couple cups 30 years ago.

Patrick Roy is an arrogant jerkoff that flounced from Colorado just before they got good. Thankfully. And to the OP, one of the times we seen this was when Roy was crying about Sakic those years ago

Avalanche's Joe Sakic 'definitely caught off-guard' by Patrick Roy's exit

What evidence do you have for that? what has Roy done in this league as a coach ?

Might be speculation on my part but I seem to recall reports of Roy being upset that the avs didn't persue radulov when he was coming back to the nhl as a free agent. I think radulov played on Roy's team in Quebec so that's likely the connection.

Roy resigned that same summer.

Lou doesn't know what it takes to build a winning roster in the modern game.

Roy is a very good coach who gets the most out of his players.

Leadership will need to make a decision on which way they want to go at some point.
As an Islanders fan, the most isn't good enough. The expiration date on this squad expired after Lambert's first year. The team has no heart and a goalie who got paid and got fat with his own press clippings.

As someone posted on the NYI board, they don't have the legs to finish games. They are also too comfy with each other and are exactly what their record says they are--a mediocre team fighting for the bottom playoff spot

Trotz, Lambert and Roy. The problem isn't in the coaching

Roy hasn't really been a good coach either this year, all of the Isles players outside of Palmieri have had poor offensive numbers.
Brock Nelson says hi. Aside from those 2 and Lee, they have no finishers. Only so much a coach can do

In fairness, Roy is minus 3 key guys replaced with people like should have retired 3 years ago Matt Martin, an over matched in the NHL Oliver Wahlstrom and a crew of minor league defenseman who are decent at times and garbage at others

Nelson is starting to turn it around sure, but he started off bad, and Dobson, Horvat and Barzal9when he was healthy) haven't been great offensively,
