Top 5 winger in the league with expiring deal in ‘22/‘23. Will be close to 35yo when signs his next contract. Do the Hawks sell this year or next to help the rebuild, or re-up and retire him a hawk? What’s it take to get him?

My take - Chicago deals him to speed up the rebuild. The Jones trade depleted an already thin prospect pool. Return is slightly better than Eichel:

1st
Young roster player (former 1st)
2 Top prospects

If Chicago retains, add another 1st round pick.

Kane is too old to get such a haul. That’s probably 4 1st round picks.

a more realistic return

Kane with retention gets a playoff team 1st ( protected) , a 2nd in 2023/ equivalent prospect and a decent but not top 5 prospect/ELC and possibly a salaried player to balance the cap.

He’s old, but has the ability to contribute at a high level for atleast another 4-5 years. He instantly becomes most teams best winger or forward altogether. Please add the players from your team that match with your stated value.

He wouldn’t get more than Eichel. Eichel has a messed up neck, Kane has a messed up soul

Kane should retire in Chicago. Of course they're terrible right now, but they do have good pieces and they could be on the upswing soon with the change of leadership.

A Patrick Kane to Rangers Trade Scenario

Larry Brooks of the New York Post wondered if the Rangers and Blackhawks would be open to talking about the possibility of a blockbuster trade that would include Patrick Kane going to the Rangers and something like Kaapo Kakko, Nils Lundqvist, Vitali Kravtsov, and a 2022 first-round pick going back to Chicago. He wonders if new Rangers’ GM Chris Drury would go for it knowing the Rangers would have a “super-line” that featured Kane, Artemi Panarin and Ryan Strome.

Such a stupid take
Well ... what can one say with an avatar like that one.
Shakes head and tries to erase image from mind.

Onto Kane with the Rangers .. as a Hawk fan I would love to see it. Panarin and Kane together again and perhaps with a good chance at a Cup if all things go well.
What would it cost? I would think with 50% retained we would be looking at something not so far off the Kravtsov with a couple more 1st's. Not sure we would land Kakko or Laff but ya never know.

If new york is serious about trading for kane , yes the price to acquire him will be kap and much much more plus a 1st rounder . Kane is still exceeding expectations and those high value kids haven't yet excelled .

Maybe they will but at this point especially Kap he was selected 2nd overall and he has now been in the league 2 or 3 years and his production hasn't risen .

Kakko imo looking at his draft selection and his position plus he is been playing in the league 2 years this is his 3rd and just like dach lots of potential but hasn't excelled to where the expectations should be.

When you look at McDavid or draisatal or debrincat,,, those players where all producing in there first year and excelling each year afterwards.

Kane is not a top 5 winger anymore. Those days are gone. Still a good player but let's hit the brakes a little. He also carries a large cap hit which not many teams can even take on. He isn't waving for a nonplayoff team either. Lastly a GM would be stupid to give up the pieces necessary to get him.

He isn't going anywhere. He will probably finish out his contract with the Hawks and then who knows.

If I was Hawks general manager , Kane deal start with Lafreniere a 1st, Schnieder and I take All dead cap as per cap friendly.
Lafreniere, Dach and Schnieder are a good young core to develop
But i don't think Kane want to be out of Chigago.

Yeah people are probably right about Kane not wanting to waive. He has his 3 cups, conn smythe, calder, Hart and Art Ross etc ... what more can there be?
Well another cup ... why not?! I imagine it has to be a tad boring for him with the Hawks at this stage seeing as they haven't played any meaningful games now in 6 or 7 years. But maybe middle age has set in and he's comfortable with his life, family and cushy job of just gliding along.
But if he wants to further enhance his legacy as the greatest American hockey player of all time why not go to a team like the Rangers. Great city, exciting, young, well balanced team. Could be a win win win.

Would be great but the rangers don’t do that
