Injury Report: Patrick Kane - UPDATED 4/13/15: Medically cleared!!!

Blues D is light years better then Hawks and experience means very little ,, Rozy has plenty of experience so I guess your saying now he is great asset?

Preds are better in every aspect as a team at this point when you take away Kane. And there is nothing the Hawks could do to make there D even a fraction as good as Preds right now

"Experience means very little." Wrong. NEXT!

"Blues D is lightyears better than Hawks". St Louis 9th in GA/ppg. Hawks 3rd. Wrong. NEXT!

"There's nothing the Hawks can do to make there D even a fraction as good as Preds". Preds .08 GA/pg better than the Hawks. Hawks still have a trade to make for a D and TVR is coming back. Wrong.

That about covers it.

you guys have my sympathies.... 12 weeks is brutal.

Chicago has been my "playoff team" for years, love watching Kaner in the post season.

Have some flexibility now with cap space at least.

THEY DIDN'T!

One of the best QBs of all time was the Super Bowl MVP, Bledsoe getting hurt actually helped them because Brady got to play.

Bledsoe was a four time pro bowler, led the Pats to the Super Bowl in 96, and was the first pick in the NFL draft. He's also in the Patriots hall of fame. He also took over for Brady in the 2001 AFC Championship game and led the team to the Super Bowl. Brady was an afterthought. A guy who couldn't hold the starting job in college and who was what, a 6th round pick? Brady was an absolute nobody.

Bledsoe gets hurt and Brady goes on to have a miracle storybook career. Brady is one of the greatest now, but he wasn't back then. Don't act like anyone knew that Brady was going to turn out like he did. Bledsoe wasn't garbage either.

I don't know what this proves as it relates to the Hawks, probably nothing unless Teuvo ends up being Wayne Gretzky.

Lets not forget we did quite a bit of damage in last years playoffs without Sharp producing. If he finds his game, his production could help offset the loss of Kane. It's not like Sharps career is over and he is simply a terrible player now.

If Sharp gets going, Hawks are almost as dangerous as they were before the injury to Kane.

I've been a 40 year Ram fan..who was the best player in 99' that they lost?

hopefully you aren't referring to Trent Green.

He actually is

So I guess Trent Green was better then the HOF Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, Tory Holt, London Fletcher and Olando Pace, all of whom made multiple Pro-Bowl teams

Hell Dré Bly was better then Trent Green

There is a big difference between not producing and not playing

and Sharp was never playing as well as Kane has been this year

Stay the course, no rentals, no selling, pick up depth defender, make the best of it. Expect nothing, maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised.

However unlikely it is that the Hawks win the cup without Kane, you don't sell. You dangle Bickell out there for the right price, and you certainly listen to offers. If you can improve the team without losing 1st or 2nd round picks, or guys in the plans for the next two seasons, you do it. You slow play this deadline and ride it out. If you can dump Bickell's albatross of a contract, see ya... There is still a lot of regular season hockey left. Hawks were sitting pretty and that all changed in 3 seconds. From a nothing crosscheck and a very unlucky fall into the boards. Anything can happen between now and the playoffs, and even once the playoffs hit.

I'm not a fan of the whole 'experience' argument.

The Flames and Canucks both had more experience than the Blackhawks in 2009
The Canucks and the Sharks both had more experience than the Blackhawks in 2010
The Blackhawks had more experience the Coyotes in 2012

I'll take the team that's more talented, and if it's relatively even, I'll take the team that's playing better heading into the playoffs.

No team in the history of professional sports lost their best player and won the Championship, has never happened.

It's a good thing they didn't lose their best player then. Its also a good thing that plenty of teams have had one of their best players get injured and come back during the playoffs and still win championships. Good points though.

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Your under selling the value of experience and some are over selling it.

Experience for me counteracts adversity and ability to stop a bad run. IMO no way we come back from 3-1 in 2013 without the experiences of all those series you listed and nearly do it again last year vs the Kings.

That said, this is a different kind of adversity so we'll really see what they are made of. I also am holding off my expectations until I see what we do by end of Monday. I still think we can make a lot of noise (Vegas agrees) so the story isn't over yet.

I'd like to think we can still succeed with Kaner, but then I think about how ridiculous he was in the second half of the Kings series last year. It was like he put the entire team on his back and said lets go!

Bowman won't overeact to this and I think Kane will be back faster than 12 weeks. If the Hawks make it past round one he plays I bet. This is hockey people play hurt all the damn time.

As much as I love Kane, he is NOT the Hawks best player.

Toews is the best player, and it's really not even that close. Toews and Kane have had similar production every year until this one (Toews averages 0.90 points per game for his career, and Kane averages 0.97)

Obviously Kane is more dynamic offensively, but Toews is 1000 times better at every other facet of the game:

If Toews conserved all of his energy on defense, and spent all of his energy on offense like Kane, there is little doubt that he would produce at the same level.

Sure, but there is a huge difference between producing and not producing.

ANd I never said Sharp will play as good as Kane or has. But there is the possibility he returns to the Sharp we all know and love, and scores a ton of playoff goals again. It's not impossible.

Yes it's true that obviously Toews is the superior player to Kane, but Kane is still a significant player. I figured the Blackhawks could get through 1 round without Kane, but two? That's a stretch.

Moreover, Toews and pretty much everybody else on the roster needs to step up. Whether they will and their luck changes (their shooting percentages have been below-average all season) is going to play a big role in how far they get.

The Blackhawks can still do some damage in the playoffs. But quite frankly, even without the Kane injury, considering they just picked up Sekera, I'm not sure this team is flat-out good enough to beat the Kings in a 7 game series.

No doubt, you're 100% right. My comment was more in response the "Hawks just lost their best player" crowd.

Kane is EASILY #2 by a large margin. Hossa would be close if he was a bit more consistent, and Saad is gaining a bit of ground, but both guys are much more replaceable than Kane.

Honestly though, losing any of the top 6 forwards, or top 2 D-pairings is pretty devastating for a teams playoff chances. You're typically not going to win a cup without those players being healthy.

I feel for the guy knowing his Art Ross chances are gone now. He's made ridiculous strides over the years to clean up his act and really improve his game and he's gotten exponentially better. It sucks seeing him go down like this in what would've likely been the year he really emerges as the player we were hoping he would be.

Hope the dude recovers fast and only comes back when he's actually ready.

I feel like he will make a quicker recovery than expected. If we can win the round(s) that he isnt there for, I think we will win the cup.
