That's really the short of it. Adams knows Buffalo isn't making the playoffs this season, and the goal was to continue to develop their young players. Kane isn't going to help with that, if anything he would take ice time away from a kid like Quinn or Peterka. He's also not going to help them defensively or teach the kids how to play a 200 foot game at the NHL level because he doesn't really do that himself anymore.After last night Buffalo is, according to NHL.COM 8th in the Atlantic why would they part with assets to get him and why would he agree to go?
With how the kids are playing there just doesn't seem to be a real need for more scoring. A top 10 pick in 2023 can either be used to draft another player or to trade for a young player that fits their core and can help them in areas of actual need.
