For those folks still feeling Bergeron shouldn't have played the final game in MTL:
A quote from Bergeron: "It's a coincidence that it was Montreal as the last game. If it would have been any other team, I would have been in the lineup, as everyone else was in the lineup for that game, as you saw. It's unfortunate (about the injury), but that could have happened the week before or last week."

100 percent Montgomerys idea. Had nothing to do with his father

You mean Patrice Bergeron is really lying, he did stomp his feet so his father could see him play while throwing his coach under the bus?

Like many have said, it was a stupid decision by the coach that looks as though didn't cost them anything, thankfully,

Patrice on the "plan"

There is a plan in place. I've missed four games to heal some of the stuff, some of the bumps and bruises of the year, and 'Monty' has discussed about what he wanted for the last week. He wanted the full lineup to be against Washington and Montreal. It's a coincidence that it was Montreal as the last game. If it would have been any other team, I would have been in the lineup, as everyone else was in the lineup for that game, as you saw. It's unfortunate (about the injury), but that could have happened the week before or last week."

Don't have a problem with it either way.

We don't know what the injurys were or are. If he was cleared to play, then playing a couple games at the end of the season after being given some time off shouldn't be an issue.

Does it really f***ing matter what the team says in public? Does it? Do you really expect Bergeron to come out publicly to make it about himself? do you really expect the Bruins or Monty to throw a player under the bus when its f***ing Bergeron?

but most importantly, does. it. f***ing. matter.

Everybody in a position worth losing is going to lie to your face 50% of the time.

As I said elsewhere, the Red Wings said Yzerman had an "upper body injury" when he had a broken leg. Since then, anything a team or a coach says about an injury, I filter it through that lens. Hence why I never get agita over injuries in the NHL. Also why it used to tickle me pink when Belichick made a mockery of the NHL injury reporting protocol by listing Brady as "Probable" every week whether he was hurt or not.

can't it be both? As in, if Bergeron at the time felt his injury was bad enough he should rest that he should rest, but between the combination of Monty's plan and Patrice wanting to play in front of his father and playing through a lot worse before, he wanted to be out there. I think that's also where the whole "he wanted to be back out and tried to but was stopped" comes from.

I doubt Monty would tell Bergeron he needed to play if his injury was more severe

I really get the sense that this team really trusts in each other and knows they can rest guys luxuriously. They proved it once again. Would Monty make the same decision under the same circumstances a year from now? Given new experiences I imagine he might not.

If the Bruins lost game 3 I think Bergeron plays game 4. But they didn't and are now up 3-1 with a chance to close it out at home with a much healthier bergeron

I don't think we should be looking for black and white answers with this team and I don't think we should be ignoring their results. They have not done a single thing this year to make us doubt them.

I know here in Bruin's land we are used to dissapointment and heart break, but let's have faith. Remember the thread Ladyfan made way back when in 2011 when we went down 0-2.

This team is going to win the cup. I said it in September and Im saying it again now.

No, we're not going to pretend like he didn't just completely shut down the fake stuff about playing in front of his father one last time in Montreal. Bergeron just completely blew that out of the f***ing water and that's it, it's over, no using that as an excuse anymore.

What the difference at this point, it should be put to bed. No matter the reason he played, he did, he got injured and there is nothing anyone can do about it now. Bruins did what they needed to do without him and he's back, healthy. Let's put it away tonight and hopefully by the time they hit the ice for round 2 we have en entire healthy and rested squad.

At this point is pretty obvious they wanted to ice a full lineup in the last few games. Which im not completely opposed to, you dont want to come in rusty in the playoffs but in bergeron’s and krejci’s case it was stupid. As for the injury, yeah shit can happen at any time but you could play it safe and dont put him in. Whats done is done though so screw it and move on. Hopefully they learned something.

Why does it bother you so much? Regardless of the reason for him playing, he played, he got hurt, he rested up and now appears he's back healthy. Now it's time to move on.

Because I hate a) being fed bullshit and b) a total lack of accountability when said bullshit is revealed.

You want to move on? Fine. Move on. But I'm going to be bothered if you or anyone else does so while saying Bergeron is not telling the truth, which is already happening, hence my supreme aggravation with this whole f***ing thing.

When someone doesn't want to talk about a sensitive personal situation, they'll often defer to another narrative. It's not about being fed bullshit or anything with a negative connotation like that. It's about respecting someone's right not to have to reveal their personal issues.

JFC you are painfully predictable.

Unrelated: can I interest you in a bridge in Brooklyn?

He is back, ready to play, they are up 3-1 which makes this a positive situation.

I am sure not going to get worked up over not being told the truth of what happened with some injury. Teams lying about the situation during playoff time is not actually a new thing in life.

Bergeron owes no one an explanation.

That long tearful hug with Marchy followed up with the stick wave and kiss to the crowd was his goodbye if you ask me.

Thanks to the classiest Bruin I’ve ever seen play live. No disrespect to Big Z or #4.

Proud to have been a fan of his.
