Usually, patience requires some sort of tangible end-game in mind.

I dont care that this team looks like ****. Ive certainly seen it before. I care more about how, for half my Ranger loving life, Glen Sather has ruled the Rangers in a meandering fashion that is simply unacceptable for 13 years. Ive been asked to be patient for 13 years, and I've yet to see why.

This is the best response to the idea of patience. This team is rudderless. With no idea what it is or where it wants a to go other than "Our goal is to win the Stanley Cup."

If the team was playing hard and adjusting to a learning curve, then patience would be in order. If they had a farm system brimming with talent, then patience would be in order. If the front office showed any ability to formulate a long term strategy and stick to it patience would be in order.

As it stands we've had 13 years or basically the same with varying degrees of success and failure neither has been really great or abject.

I've been patient enough.

The "have patience" crowd really need to step back and think about what they are saying.

I have some patience for the players, especially defensemen, still learning a difficult new system. I also have patience for AV, instilling his system in the ****ed up roster he's been handed.

Everybody else? Ha. They've used up their patience.

There was a brief respite and a product to be proud of. And now, as several have said, more of what we have gotten used to. And the reason that I have no more patience is because of Jackass. He finally got the buy in and a product to be proud off. And now, the desire for pond hockey is back and the team looks identical to the teams that I could not stomach or root for. I have no more patience when I am back to watching gutless, uncaring hockey by an unmotivated group of fatcats that does not care to put one ounce of energy or effort on the ice.

The same players who do not even bother to show up to games? The same defensemen that appear incapable of playing the basic fundamental?

I'm terrified by the prospect of losing Hank, but, guys.

The Rangers haven't even played a home game yet.

Patience has worn thin and Sather's track record does not earn him the benefit of the doubt. I think the only time in recent years I was willing to be patient was in 2011-12. The Rangers got off to a bit of a slow start but that team showed promise and worked hard even if they were not winning games consistently.

This year is a totally different ballgame. Outplayed, outhustled, and overmatched in all but 2 games. It's only 7 games in and we have already lost 3 games by a margin of 4 goals or more.

Yes, we've had injuries. But no one has stepped up in the absence of Nash, Hagelin, or Cally. Girardi and McDonagh stepped up in Staal's absence. The Pack Line stepped up the season before that when Gaborik was injured and struggled. Paging Stepan, Brassard, Zucc, Pouliot, etc.

And even if this team gets healthy and finally gets their act together, what is their ceiling? Another 1st or 2nd round exit? This roster as constructed is not a legitimate threat to win the cup.

I said it during training camp and I'll say it now. The earliest I really start worrying about a team is November 1, and even then it depends on circumstance. How many teams have we seen suck through October and win their division? How many times have we seen struggle through a month anywhere in the season and still make noise in the playoffs? There are a bunch of things this team is working through right now. I refuse to simply react to what I think is not the true showing from this team. No team is as bad as they are when they're in a slump. To this point, we have no evidence this is anything more than a slump.

Patience is a good thing to have. Less stress.

Patience would hold water if they were not being blown out of almost every building they have walked into.

Loo
He is the worst offender on the list.

He holds out, missing the pre-season and has done jack **** when the team needs him the most. What a major disappointment.

Getting down on Stepan will end up the stupidest part of all this when we get a chance to look back. He is one player who will earn his keep.

He misses training camp, which I think he was smart to do under the circumstances. He is young and aside from Nash, the only real first line talent this team has at present. On a great team he would be a great second line center, not a bad thing to be.

The real problems are Nash hurt, possibly with long-term damage, Callahan showing a propensity to miss games, a bunch of third liners with no upside, and a group of dmen who produce almost nothing to the offense.

I think the fans have been pretty damn patient with this team and especially this organization. They don't deliver and I'm starting not to care. The only reason I posted this is because patience is absolutely the last thing that should appear in a sentence with New York Rangers at this point.

It's simple. They suck and they should not. Screw patience.

It isn't simple. Nothing ever is. If things like this were simple, it would be boring and I wouldn't be on this site.

Unfortunately it's very simple. But the Rangers always make it look hard. In places like Detroit they make it look easy year after year. Always competing for a Cup. What must it be like to be a fan of a team like that?

Boring? I'd trade the "boredom" of consistent winning and cup contention for the tradition of drama any day.

Not only that, but by and large, the product on the ice since 1994 has been borderline unwatchable. We were teased for the past several years by being given a hard working team that was a pleasure to watch. And now, as is the case of being a fan of this team, the rug has been yanked out from under the feet. And the team that we were proud of has morphed into the teams that we loathed during the dark years.

You must not remember Detroit pre-1990. ;)

And besides, I wasn't talking about the history of the team. You said it was simple, that the Rangers suck and they shouldn't. There is nothing simple on why the Rangers suck right now. It's frustrating as hell, for sure, but it's fascinating in its own way.

Besides, after being a fan for 25 years, and having the Rangers miss the playoffs from the time I got into high school until after I moved out of New York (in other words, the entire time I was likely to attend a lot of playoff games), I understand the frustration. My feeling is that I'm not going to lose patience with a team after less than 3 weeks of regular season play. Then again, I also don't get upset about things I know aren't going to change, like who the GM of this team is, so maybe I'm a little different. Instead of being frustrated, I'm just resigned to my fate as a fan of the Rangers (and the Mets, for that matter).

I remember it quite well, which is exactly my point. Detroit has made the playoffs 27 of the last 29 years. Much of that time they have been a solid contender if not an elite team. That's a true winning culture rather than a temporary fad.....

So it can be done when you have the right people in place making consistently good decisions. One being that there is never any patience for substandard management, teams or performance.

....what ever else you said, OK. Still I say screw patience.

Part of me wants to be terrible this year, draft a top pick, fire AV, hire Laviolette, and move forward...

the other part of me wants to.....do the exact same thing.

This coaching staff is just as bad as the players and the GM.

There is NO excuse for this.

First of all, let me say that only watched 2 games, the only 2 wins they got, so part of the blame should be on me not watching more often. :sarcasm:

The team is not playing well and there is a lot of venting going on. I understand that, but there are some knee jerk reactions that are embarrassing.

Hank was never good enough? Really? All those top Vezina finalist were a mirage, the Vezina itself was a dream. I find it quite depressing that with all the years Hank has been the reason for the team making the playoffs, as soon as he struggles he gets thrown under the bus. :amazed:

Blow up the team? Blow what up? This team is missing 3 key cogs, Callahan, Nash and Hagelin. Let's wait and see how this team plays with a full deck before jumping to conclusions. One of the issues I see, and there are many, is lot of people are playing out of position. Except Richards, everybody is at a 3rd/4th line player clip or worse. Tough to win with those.
Getting rid of the Pyatt, Moore, Powe would be a good start and replace them with Hrivik, Yogan those are good young/cheap bottom 6 players.

Full rebuild? You must be joking. You guys are giving up to rebuild after 7 games and you think you have the patience for a full rebuild? :shakehead

The best thing to do it have some patience to see how this team plays until the deadline then make decisions. Right now everybody on the team is worth pennies on the dollar, it's the worst time to trade assets.

Again, I understand the need to vent because of the current product on the ice, but come on with the hyperbolas.

Hope in one hand and **** in the other and see which one fills first:sarcasm:

The way this year is shaping up, with Richards easily being the best forward despite the fact that hes going to be bought out at years end -

It would only be right for him to get injured the last week of the season.

The way this year is shaping up...

knowing the Rangers luck he will try to make a pass, skate for a line change before getting hurt by one of his teammates :help:

The way this year is shaping up, he will be a good trade commodity at the deadline.

Let's say this does happen. Richards puts up 75 points this year and has a career year on a crappy team. His value is immense. Let's trade him for young assets and picks, right?

Wrong. Cap recapture. Richards cannot be traded.

This team is royally ****ed in so many ways it boggles my mind
