Chari Hawkins failed on all of her high jump attempts at 1.71m and so her Olympic heptathlon is effectively over after two events. Her PB is 1.85m so this pretty shocking.

I think Anna Hall is the US's best chance. Last year she just missed the world championship by 20 points and put up the best point total since Jackie Joyner-Kersee for an American woman.

I've seen him give interviews before and he talked about how he had asthma since he was a kid and it's something he tries to deal with. He was very careful during COVID to isolate and mask/wash his hands to try and avoid it because any kind of respiratory disease/infection can be worsen asthma.

So even just a mild symptom from covid is probably not good for it.

Femke Bol must have used up her tank in the 4x400 mixed cuz she looked really off and had nothing at the end of the race.

Which is funny to say since she still placed 3rd... but she ran a 52.xx something and Bol had run a 50.95 last month.

Of course that 50.95 was still almost 1/3 of a second slower than Sydney's US time trial time (which broke her own WR).

Only way Bol wins the match-up is if Sydney had an 'off-night' and Bol was at her best. Well Sydney was at her best and Bol had the off-night.
