This was a good test.

Avs a hot team right now. Their offense against our defensive system.

Felt like the Leafs outplayed the Avs in the first. Avs had the upper hand in the second yet the Leafs kept them mostly to the perimeter. Third was a little scrambly at times.

These are the kinds of gamed they need to have. Find a way to beat a good team. They let off the gas in the second and almost gave the Avs life. Good on the Leafs when they reset.

8-3 is not the score I expected but then again... Matthews snipping like his old self was also a happy surprise.

On to the next one!

Behind this defense and attention to details? I'd give Kallgren a game or two. Boys will protect him and it might be good for the kid.

However, he could also get lit up and that might be something Dubas is scared about. Hutch could be the option then in that scenario.

But hopefully Soup is Soup. Not gonna say much more.

I don't even have to look it up to predict that the Leafs haven't been top in the league since at least the 60s. It had to be Original Six years. That would indeed be a worthy accomplishment.

I think Keefe has the team dialed in to be on a mission. For my money, in particularly from Tavares. He just seems to have a more deliberate attitude.

They know that many fans will not give them the benefit of the doubt so it's on them to figure it out.

Enjoy the ride, but keep one eye on the prize. The consistency of players in and out of the lineup has been impressive. It feels more akin to a "playoff ready roster". I hope they can maintain this.

Dubas wisely didn't overpay to keep fan fave Hyman. He's found FAR more depth and completeness in the roster now though.
