Meh. I get it.

But a 1st for a pretty mediocre QB ain’t great.

Will be interesting to see if Adams makes much of a difference or if it really was just the Rourke show and everyone was along for the ride.

CFL draft picks aren't worth much compared to keeping your playoff hopes alive. Turnover is so high in the league that you just fill position needs in free agency.

If stats mean anything, the Leos have assembled one of the best O-lines in the CFL. Vernon Adams has spent the last few seasons running for his life in Montreal. Will be interesting to see what he can do with some decent time and space to operate.

B.C. really had no choice but acquire somebody. With Rourke and O'Connor sidelined, you can't go the rest of the year with Pipkin as your starting QB. At least not for a team that has Grey Cup aspirations.

I'm not all that enthusiastic, but we had to do something.

If he can win 3 of 8 I'll be happy with this acquisition. 11-7 probably gets us into the playoffs.

Not sure why people are "meh" about this acquisition. From everything I'm reading, MTL fans are really annoyed by this trade.

Reading between the lines, it looks as if Vernon Adams Jr. was a fallback position for the Leos from the very beginning.

After all, they were heading into the season with a rookie QB in Nathan Rourke and almost nobody was predicting his breakout season. If indeed he'd struggled, which happens to a lot of rookie QB's in the CFL, then the Adams trade might have happened sooner.

Just a shame that it took a season-ending injury to Rourke for the Lions to be forced to pull the trigger on a trade.

I'm handing out t shirts on the 30th for Truth and Reconciliation night.
Are they bringing back the shirt with the indigenous art Lions logo? My mother has been dying to get one of those since she saw it last year but the Lions have been brutal to try and contact.

How early need your show up to get one? First how many in the door?

As soon as I know I'll let you know for sure. I just found out a day ago that I was doing it. My dad's company is sponsoring the game that night so they asked if people wanted to volunteer handing out shirts at the door. I naturally jumped at the opportunity. So as soon as I'm filled in on everything, I'll post it here and tag you.

I realize that all the games are televised live on TSN, but it would be nice to see a few more fans for Lions games at B.C. Place Stadium.

Rick Campbell, Neil McEvoy and the new ownership group have done an outstanding job of turning this franchise around on the field. Hopefully since Labour Day as come and gone, the attendance figures will go up dramatically as the season winds down.

This team certainly deserves the support.

Having a heck of a time getting a working stream for this game. And that seems like a good thing after the promising opening drive. Lots of dumb mistakes early on:
- conceding a safety on 1st down with a sack
- giving up a massive return on ensuing kick
- fumble at midfield

11-3 Als early on. I get that we don’t have Rourke but the execution on all three fronts is inexcusable. Hopefully we can find our form again for the next 40 mins.

Can someone explain to me why Pipkin has had 8 Atempts and Vernon only 3?

Did Vernon get injured or something?

You can't win in any pro football league without quarterbacking. Pipkin looks to me like he doesn't really belong in the league, and O'Connor is a journeyman at best.

They really have no other option but to play Adams until he drops the rest of the way in the faint hopes that he can recover some of the form he had in previous seasons. But if that fails to happen, it's on to next season when hopefully they can keep Rourke healthy.

I guess they figure VA is still learning the playbook.

I don't think it's fair to judge O'Connor on one quarter of football.

Leos haven't won a game since Rourke went down.....and that streak isn't likely to change tomorrow night in Calgary, where they're five point underdogs.

They have to find a way to string some drives together and keep their defense off the field. But just not sure Adams and this offense if up to the task.

Really a tale of 'two seasons' so far.

Yup. The optimist in me is counting on the o-line to do a good job and allow Adams to find one of our terrific receivers open. Like you said, our defense can be good if they don't have to be out there for 70% of the game.

Even if we lose to Calgary tomorrow, I just want to see a major improvement on offense, and evidence that Adams can gel with the team. If Adams can't achieve some consistency, we're screwed.
