Reminds me of the rookie year of "Mervn "Swerving" Fernandez". Guy should've won rookie of the year but Eastern voters gave it so some schlub in Ottawa (who didn't end up doing much of note & became a GOP politician later on ala Sonny Bono).
I suspect Rourke is a big enough story that he should overcome those biases. This is historic stuff.

I know the "on pace" stuff can be really misleading, but he at least has a shot at the passing yards and passing TDs records for a season this year. Flutie currently holds both with 48 TDs and 6619 yards (also in 18 game seasons). After 8 games Rourke has 2906 yards and 23 TDs.

Game night! Hopefully we can provide the evil empire with yet another loss. It sure is nice to have the CFL back on the reg with the Lions exciting again. It's been far too long for me. Good times.

I can remember when Taylor Field (now Mosaic Stadium) was a pigskin graveyard for the Lions. Hoping for a win tonight.....always satisfying to leave Rider Nation moaning and grumbling after another loss.

Just once in this league I’d like to see a team lineup in the Veer on the goaline, just to see how the defense would react

YOU get an interception! And YOU get an interception! AND EVERYBODY GETS AN INTERCEPTION!

O'Connor will be fine if Rourke can't go. Lion's have the best pass blocking Oline in the CFL.
It's pretty bleak in Rider Nation. People calling for Fajardos head! May be a battle of the backups next week. I hope for a quick recovery from Rourke. I'll be at the game in Vancouver next week!

This is totally anecdotal evidence on my part so it's probably not worth much, but in my experience, foot injuries are not usually as bad as ankle injuries. I've injured both feet and ankles, and ankles were by far the worst, leading to a month or more of rehabilitation time, whereas foot injuries were measured in weeks, not months.

This is the latest I've been able to find, but it doesn't say anything we don't already know.

Gotta' love those passionate Rider fans.....they're with you 'win or tie'. Fajardo has gone of the penthouse to the outhouse, but may be playing hurt.

But win or lose, Rider Nation still comes out in massive numbers to support their team....Meanwhile in Vancouver? Not so much.

Just got a sportsnet app update that said he's going for surgery. Doesn't appear there's an actual story to go with it to indicate more details though.

"It has been determined that the best course of action is for Nathan to undergo surgery, which will happen very soon," the Lions said in a statement. "The club remains hopeful that the surgery and subsequent rehab will open the door for a return late in the season.”

Well, if nothing else the fact that he'll likely miss most/all of the rest of the season probably means there's a decent chance he won't line up those NFL opportunities so easily this off-season and we might get another season of him before he tries his luck down south. Maybe.

Or I'm being overly optimistic and hope is just an illusion used to make the knife twist harder as it guts you.

So the B.C. Lions season basically ends on one meaningless play late in the game......I know next to nothing about QB's O'Connor or Pipkin.....but they're backups for a reasons.

The Lions defense may enable them to win a few games down the stretch.....but their quarterbacking isn't likely to get them too far in the playoffs. To bad for the Leos but even worse for the CFL.
