Believe In Henke
Re: Richards, it's a move you make ten out of ten times.... unless you are the Rangers or have a track record like Sather.
Fixed.

Good: Gaborik, Boyle, Callahan.
Bad: The rest more or less.
I agree.
I have no problem with the 6 on 4, but you DON'T send it to the point for a point shot, you get it down low where you out man the defenders and get them out of position. Instead they did the obvious and it was over before it even started.
whoa hold up... that's on the players man. the coach stays out of the way for that stuff.
that scoring stuff is on them. you get to work and play defense.... barely.
How much time was left when they pulled Henrik? a minute? With a PP?
Listen, the Rangers needed all the help they could get. Having a 6 on 4 was a risk but the lack of finish out there forced the issue imo. To me it was poor execution on the ice by the players using the two man advantage. Not to mention putting themselves in that position against FLORIDA in the first place.
But it's not really a two man as we are used to it. The defending team can still get into the box and there's not that much room unlike a 5 on 3. So, to pull Hank with over a minute left was probably a panic move. Maybe with 30 seconds or so you go for it. but that was too early.
I believe thats one of the reasons why Nash's play has fallen off. He needs the puck in open space with speed to do what he does. It would benefit Richards and Gaborik as well (dare I say).
Come to think of it, Hagelin is great in open space too. Stepan can pass off the rush and Kreider can fly... hmmm .. maybe you've got something there.![]()
EPIC FAIL
Ive never seen a team dominate possession like the Rangers do, but dont score.
So basically playing the way the NYR did last yearColumbus has earned a point in 10 straight games (6-0-4), a franchise record.
Columbus has not allowed a 5-on-4 power play goal since Feb. 18 at Anaheim and has risen from 18th place in the NHL in PK% (81.3) to fourth (86.5) in that time.
Columbus continues to be the most responsible team in the NHL when it comes to puck possession, having recorded a league-low 111 giveaways this season. St. Louis ranks second with 141.
Columbus currently leads the Western Conference in fighting majors (27) and penalty minutes (413).
Columbus currently ranks second in the Western Conference in total team hits (719).
Columbus currently ranks third in the Western Conference in come-from-behind victories (7).

i've been ultra negative this year so i always laugh when people think we're "righting the ship" after a win or 2 and then we go out and play like that. embarrassing.
I like Torts, really I do. I love his pressers, love the fact he's not buying into the media BS. Love the fact he played minor league hockey in my hometown. Winningest US coach.
But.
The fact he REFUSES to adapt his style to his personnel is a major part of the issue this season. I called for Renney's head for a year before he got canned, and I don't want to call for Torts' but something needs to change. Guys are afraid to be creative offensively, afraid to shoot it on the PP ( Thanks Sullivan ).
Richards is done. Gaborik can return to form if he was turned loose a bit. Nash will lose his spark as well if this keeps up. He needs room to skate and create and this system simply won't support that.
I think you are 100% right . Even Brads Lost and confused comment wreaks of locker room dissentionI can't say which players are "done" or not. Honestly, we can give a solid answer unless Torts is removed from the equation.
I can only say that I think certain guys can't or won't play in Torts system anymore..

Bobrovsky is also playing lights out right now - a big part of that streak. So what is your point?
