So as I said, there was, probably, something behind the story. According to Anisin "there was a company there, and either we tried to invite them to dance or they told us something rude... girls were stoned, and Artemi could push one of them, but I don't remember, he punched anybody".

going to a bar is hardly "something"

Also Anisin expressly denies anything serious has happened. Если уж воспринимать Мишу как заслужиывающий внимания источник. Так же как и Назарова.

Anisin was there, though. I mean, if not him, then who?

So Anisin in Sport-Express interview confirmed that there was a conflict with some drunk girls, there was police involved and that afterwards Panarin was scolded by Vityaz GM at the time, Alexei Zhamnov. But he doesn't remember anything about Artemi beating those girls, some pushing away at best. Look like some working girls wanted to make easy money on drunk young hockey players. So there is probably some truth to Nazarov's story but just like any wicked lie it's based on some truth just twisted and exaggerated to the liar's agenda. It would be best for NHL to investigate though so any doubt would be dispelled.

That's the gist of his interview.

obviously, I won't have any inside info.
all that I'm asking - is why would he (on his own accord)?
Why would the team ask him to and then publicly state the story is false? Any PR cover the leave of absence would grant is negated by having already publicly stated that you don’t believe the story

Honestly at this point I’ve never said this but I don’t even care what happens this season. It’s been a train wreck. The coach is a joke. Really all I care about is everyone coming out of it healthy and safe. And moving on in 21-22. I’m concerned about the long term symptoms of Covid. What that does to a guy like kakko.

It’s a lost season.

I just want to see a Laf Chytil Kakko line given a fair shot.

Again, the NYR ever-worried of their image have once again overreacted - and that's exactly what those who came up with the idea in Russia were aiming for. Bravo to them.
As it was mentioned earlier in this thread (not by me) the story hadn't even made so much as a ripple in Russia, until later in the day the news from overseas broke that "Panarin has req'd a LOA and NYR will be looking into it bla-bla-bla"
THIS IS THE REALITY. Period.

If you can't see the difference between calling someone a word and laying your hands on someone I can't help you.

One of them may end up costing you your job (if that), the other one usually lands you in jail.

Yes obviously my mentioning that story was me saying the situations were exactly the same. Good call! I doubt I will ever need your help.

The reality is this is your opinion. This is your personal speculation. Being Russian doesnt mean your opinion means more. Get over yourself.

Nobody in Russia would have cared even if Panarin actually knocked out that girl... It targeted American public from the start.

Then people would be questioning why he was still playing if he was involved in an active investigation and, in the unlikely event where the story is true, why the team did nothing and allowed him to continue being around the organization. They "lose" either way.

Yep, this is what I feel it boils down to. The current climate of American culture/the #MeToo movement/etc is obviously well-documented. This was never about making noise in Russian media/to Russian fans, it was about trying to turn American fans - and probably the hope of turning his employer - against Panarin with a highly provocative and inflammatory story, effectively trying to get him canceled.

Panarin was traded a few weeks later after this story, though.

Translation: If you accept Misha (no idea who that is) as a source that deserves attention. Same as Nazarov.

It would make sense that SOMETHING happened. Because why else would he pick that day specifically. Just picked it out of a hat. Shoving some obnoxious drunk/stoned girl while not the best behavior is miles away from the accusation.

I can answer this: people reacts different to different things — and especially something one guy reacts to at one point may not be something the same guy would have reacted to at another time. It’s just how humans are wired. There is no objective standard that applies to everyone as to how and what we reacts to at any given time.

And based on that, getting accused of something like this can surely feel like a big deal. Like look at what Kane faced, how Voynov was held accountable and so forth. My point is just — if someone makes up an accusation and makes it stick, the downside is potentially very big for the accused.

And look, I definitely think it’s the right thing by the organization to respect and encourage someone taking time off if they are not at the right place. JMO.

The thing is looks like there was a story after all, it was just twisted and exaggerated by Dirty Naz with an obvious intent to smear Artemi's name. That's why Panarin hasn't said anything about it yet because you need to pick your words carefully so it wouldn't sound like confirmation that it's true or some bs excuse.

Rangers and Panarin went 'It's all Putin' route so everybody would stop even thinking that the story (even if twisted and exaggerated) could've had any place in reality. And it worked, the outcry about Putin's trying to destroy apparently his biggest political rival, hockey player Panarin, overshadowed any attempts to look at this story objectively. At both sides of the pond. One side is sure that it's absolutely not true, Artemi wouldn't hurt a fly and Putin just wants him gone, probably his family too. The other side is now leaning towards that the story is true because of the usual Western outcry about evil Putin and political martyr Panarin which automatically put them against the Panarin's supporters.

Rangers' strong reaction definitely threw a whole canister of oil into this dumpster fire of a story. And the fact that NHL doesn't want to investigate anything doesn't have a good look as well. Probably because it looks better for them that their player is just an innocent victim of totalitarian regime rather than a victim of some pro-Putin nutjob's over-exaggerated story from a distant past. Most people in the US already made up their mind that Panarin and his family are in danger for political reasons so why bother investigate anything.

Why would the Rangers/NHL prefer this be about Putin rather than Nazarov?

Bravo to them? Really?

What color is the sky in your world?

These last few pages here are a tire fire.

There’s plenty of real world reasons a person would take a LOA after being publicly accused of beating the shit out of a girl. Professional athletes are still, in fact, people.

It could be a legal reason, it could be a personal reason. 15 seconds of critical thinking isn’t THAT hard.

If police was involved, then something really happened.
