I think the problem with a lot of Russians is that they can't reconcile the fact that they want to consider their country a first world power with the fact that they act like a third world country.

Honestly at this point I’ve never said this but I don’t even care what happens this season. It’s been a train wreck. The coach is a joke. Really all I care about is everyone coming out of it healthy and safe. And moving on in 21-22. I’m concerned about the long term symptoms of Covid. What that does to a guy like kakko.

It’s a lost season.
Eh I think hell be fine while mika may be suffering from long term covid theres been a lot of guys whose gotten it this season and picked up the pace like nothing was wrong

While I agree with the bolded, when Putin is passing on laws to reform Russian constitution so that he can basically remain in power for his life (if and when he gets re-elected), is calling him a dictator really that far off? Maybe "eternal president" might be more accurate, I don't know lol.

Keep in mind, the Russian people supported the referendum. This was a democratic choice even though constitution took a beating. Again, nothing is strictly black/white.

But of course the American propaganda will say "scam elections!". Gimme a break. Putin doesn't need to scam anything. Although slipping with the younger generation, his popularity is still immense. Unfortunately.

What do you mean by "unusual"?

For example, sports.ru, which is a russian sport portal which is considered to be "pro-opposition" had some topics regarding Panarin today, and suddenly, lots of pro government posts appeared there. It is unusual, pretty much, imagine message boards of CNN suddenly having lots of pro-republican posts with significant amount of likes.

I mean let's be honest here, while I'm sure none of us expected it to be this bad, it's not like missing the playoffs is some big catastrophy for this team. This season was still going to be a year of developing the team, still cripled by buy out money etc. This was going to be the case in a normal season, let alone this tougher division.

We expected to fight for a playoff spot, not be in the playoffs. There's a big difference there.

I can't really disagree there. Putin has established himself so well that he can do just fine without messing with elections and votes.

Not like things were different here in Finland during the Cold War with Kekkonen...

but you literally just cited our best player who fell completely off a cliff. How can you say eh I think he’ll be fine?

Because A we don't know if it is the covid causing Mikas drop in play and B what about all the other players who've dealt with covid and been largely fine afterwards?

its either COVID causing him to lose his hand-eye ( can we get a running count on flubbed one timers going?) or he's got the yips. His conditioning seems fine.

I disagree with your take on journalism. The problem isn't with journalism.

The problem is with what many people now consider to be news sources.

lol - finding objective journalism is more challenging than finding that needle in a haystack

I actually agree with him. I put a lot of blame on journalism for reporting things to advance their own careers not caring that they are putting out articles that will cause a lot of damage and division in society.

well hopefully the Rangers hire a sports shrink ASAP
lol that will do nothing to help. They're a team, this isn't difficult, you go to war together and do your best to win, they know how to do this. Do we have enough offense and talent without Panarin to compete? That's another question.

Those are some old, old nukes.
Unlike the US, Russia has actually put a major focus on it's nuclear deterrant, trying to replace old missiles and such because they can't compete with US military in conventional ways. Pretty much all of the ICBMs Russia has are fairly modern, unlike the US.

But yeah, I guess we are getting to the point where we are barely on topic.

I wonder if Panarin himself will put out a statement at some point.

I disagree with this.

Pick any mainstream source. For one, there are limited sources noted or at best an opinion piece veiled as news. For another, the grammar ranges from meh to atrocious.

And God Forbid if they actually even partially use the inverted pyramid principle of writing a -news- article.

Journalism is under control of private interests written by forum posters who know nothing or so -called experts with an agenda. Articles are written like they’re part of a soap opera storyline.

REAL Journalism still exists but it’s a fringe thing bordering a cottage industry. You’ve always had to hunt for facts but now if you want unbiased journalism you have to hunt like Indiana Jones going through relics and tombs. You spend more time hunting than finding. It’s gotten that bad.

I just feel bad that he's probably terrified for his family and himself and his entire future and career, this must be incredibly stressful.
