Mittelstadt is absolutely not a 1C. Outside of his hot start, tbf, he’s been struggling to even do what a 2C should for Colorado. There are plenty of real reasons to carp about Buffalo’s management without making things up.
I wasn't a Mittelstadt fan at all...I'm glad they traded him..i never ever thought of him as a 1 or 2 c though many fans have...he's a #2 in colorado...whatever we shipped off ROR and Eichel
...two pieces not easy to acquire

The more i look at Cozens advanced stats, the more i think that maybe he's more of an energy third line winger, rather than an actual top six C.
his 31 goal year seems like it was an anomaly, super high shooting percentage that one year while all the other years he shoots at only 9%, like, VERY consistently at 9ish percent... when you only put 200 - 225 shots on goal at 9 percent you got a 20 - 23 goal guy (ish).
He's not great at the faceoffs and doesnt seem to produce even though he has strong 5on5 corsi (relative to team mates) , oddly, the one year he scored 31, he had horrible corsi numbers... which makes me think he was used as a triggerman.
he's still really young so who knows, maybe he has a Necas like trajectory in the next 2 - 3 years.... both fast, taller, good frame players who were drafted as C's but play Wing...they're also both primarily north-south type players.

Sabres are the most frustrating team in the league now that Arizona is no longer an NHL city. Every time I get optimistic about them they fall off a cliff and prove they aren’t even on the tracks. It’s like players go to Buffalo and they stop competing. There’s no drive from any of them. Coaching changes never work. GM’s, trades, drafting in the top.. nothing works. It’s like they are cursed.

If the Edmonton Oilers taught me anything during the 10 consecutive years they missed the playoffs it’s that you never get optimistic for a team mired in that kind of misery until they actually make it. There’s no looking forward to the future until the future actually arrives and you start making the playoffs.

Personally, I don't think Buffalo should make any moves. Let's see if they can run this shit all the way up to Game 82!

Dude, have pity on us. Although I just want our stupid owner to fire the idiot GM and give the team to experienced pros, but he imagines himself as a great POHO and thinks that he is the smartest, the result is obvious.

You fire the current GM and install the right GM who has a plan and he then installs his head coach of choice.

You trade fringe players who are UFAs this year and next. Ultimately you take one of those amazing LHD and you trade that for a player of a similar ilk to play on the Right side or a C. If you don’t believe Cozens can help this team you move on but generally anybody 25 and under you keep. Add one or two character guys just don’t fall into the trap the TML did by overpaying or sending valuable draft picks to other teams to add that character.

There has to be an understanding with the owners if your the new GM that you will spend to the cap ceiling especially if the team sees improvements. There just has to be some sort of vision.
