I can't argue with that. That's why I am willing to move the 1st so early when many Oil fans would say it's too risky. And I have been pencilling in Savoie as a winger, but due to our team needs that's the best fit. I'm not sure if he could be a top 6 C or not.
Idk your prospects as well as you do, but just glancing idk who you compare to Savoie? I don't see too many small wingers. There is the LHS Pelletier, but at almost 24 idk how high that ceiling is and what your teams longterm views are on him. I just don't see a ton of smaller, high offensive potential guys. Not disagreeing with you, but I'm curious who your thinking of.
Ekholm went for a 1st and Schaefer (who definitely did not have 1st round value imo). Chychrun went for a 1st (12th OA) and 2 2nds, then a 3rd and Jensen. Hronek went for a 1st (17 OA) and a 2nd. This is RA's value range imo, notice the lack of guaranteed center prospects. The highest end piece being a 1st that I think most at the time thought would be later than 12 OA.
In all of this, I noticed how much Ras has cooled down since the start of the year. What's the deal there?
If the Flames trade him now I expect something close to Hronek or the first Chychrun trade. If all that is being offered is a late 1st then trade him next year.
They already have Coronato in the top six and a few prospects (Basha and Misha) that are smaller in addition to Pelletier. Then they have a swack load of winger prospects in general. It just isn’t a huge need.
The Flames offense is pretty bad and Andersson has had to focus a lot more on defense. On a good offensive team he will get points.
